See these Tories, they are as subtle as a rugby team from the borders standing outside an Amsterdam brothel. The red faced, ham fisted sons of the shires are turning their hand to welfare.
There was some government woman on the news last night talking up the role that faith groups have to play in our society. To me, this ties in with Dave's vision of a society where we all muck in.
Could this by any chance be a further gambit in the dismantling of the welfare state? My own initial thoughts are that the state took over control of welfare because of the abuses of power that religious groups inflicted on beneficiaries of their services.
It wasn't just Catholic orphanages where sexual abuse was rife. I wonder how they will square lack of state interference in the provision of welfare with the need to ensure that we don't go back to the old days.
