View Full Version : Massive game against Hamilton

It is obviously a huge game against Hamilton on Saturday as IMO if we lose we will be bottom of the league with 2-3 weeks.

We are already 9th. A Hamilton win will put them above us. Either of the Saints would go above us no matter what the result between them is. So if we lose, we will be 11th.

Bad enough, but our next two games are away to Celtic and away to St. Johnstone with last season 5-1 gubbing my worst away experience of last season. After a possible easier game against Killie at home (Mixu will be up for that one), we then have the Dons and Arabs away followed by the Yams at home.

I really am concerned that we are going to be in a relegation battle all season. Yes only four games gone, but our poor spell has been since February.

Does anyone have similar concerns for this season? Or are you still confident that we will rise up the league quickly to the upper levels?

You fail to mention what happens if we win?

Before we start slitting our collective wrists, let's not forget we're a massive 2 points off third.

Season could go either way. I definitely saw sign of improvment on Saturday. The next few games will gives us a better idea of how the season will pan out. Agree with you about the 5-1 game last season - that was my low point.

Yes - shows it is a massive game. A Hibs win by a few goals could put us 4th. That sounds much better doesn't it.

Reckon if we lose or draw !! - we gotta hit the panic button ....

apparantly we are on the worse run of form - since the club began !!!

Hibs - have been scraping the barrel - since after the first half dozen or so games from the start of last season !! with some very lucky wins ie parkhead, and a few lucky draws etc etc..

even yogi says -"we rode oor luck the night, but sometimes thats how it goes eh"

shoogly peg says it all.... no

Or third.

Nobody's mentioning United as prospective relegation candidates, and they lost 4-0 to Inverness at home.

There was improvement on Saturday, and I honestly think things are starting to click. I'm not saying we'll end 3rd but I don't see us in a relegation scrap.

I've got one on my laptop. When I press it, it opens up Hibs.net and writes an indignant post for me.

I trust I'll be pressing it as soon as I get home from the match.

We need to get right behind the team for the full 90 minutes regardless of whether we score or concede the first goal unless of course it ends 0-0. The difference between cheering and booing could win or cost us the game.

Please arrive early, cheer on the team throughout the match, don't smoke in the bogs at half time and stay behind to applaud the team off the pitch.

We created numerous clear cut chances against Inverness and should have had the game dead and buried before Inverness scored. One open goal missed, hit the woodwork twice. We could and should have been 4-0 up. That we weren't was down to poor finishing and rotten luck - nothing to do with lineup and tactics.

If we hadn't created any chances then I'd be panicking, but we did.

Oh I understand how this works now. So if someone only explores one scenario they're bang on the money. If I offer an alternative I'm dead wrong and should just jump on the "woe is me" bandwagon.

I forgot this wasn't a place for debate.

not at all. your point is also a possibility, its the way you shot the guy down. you wrote 'I honestly think' which is fair enough but did you stop to think the op may have wrote that HONESTLY.
so what if the op is negative. it's only negative if you want it to be.

I don't think pointing out we're only two points off third constitutes shooting someone down, nor was it my intention to. For all this panic going around at the moment I think we need to remember that outside the old firm it's a pretty level playing field. Dundee United are one of the main contenders for third place, yet were hammered at home by Inverness 4-0. Dundee Utd then hammered Aberdeen with 3 goals in 8 minutes.

All I'm trying to say is that in the grand scheme of things we're not as good as we want to be, but not exactly miles off any of the other usual top six suspects.

your on the button again with level playing field. what i find astonishing is some of the teams above us are stoney broke yet are still on a level playing field with a team with hardly any debt. what i keep asking myself is why is this. after all our manager has had more backing than any manager since mcleish. lets face fact, 17pts from a possible 63 doesn't exactly make good reading. if i owned hibs i'd be sacking the chairman for not sacking bingo

:agree: Well said.

Thing is we should be creating loads of chances against teams like ICT, St Mirren and Hamilton. But we don't. We spend too much time fannying about with pointless passes across the back 6 in our own half whilst pretending we are actually playing like the Dutch.

Hibs should be creating 10-15 decent chances each game. That gives us the chance to score 3 or 4 goals. But in reality we created possibly 4 or 5 against ICT and unless we improve on this then we will have limited opportunities again to score v Hamilton.

The OP is right IMO, the Hamilton game is massive.

After tomorrow we only have one more home game until the 7th November, with away trips to Parkheid, McDiarmid Park, Pittordie and Tannadice in the league and Killie in the Cup. Tough run of games coming up which makes three points tomorrow a must.

I have to admit that I feel jolly well complacent about tomorrow and I'd settle for a goalless draw or a narrow defeat. I quite like the idea of one or nil points against ICT and Accies at home. I think we should smoke a load of pot and eat cheesy flavoured snacks with loads of additives and not really care too much.

There's too much passion in the modern game and if I could be bothered I'd be heartily sick of it.
