View Full Version : Under 21s bound for Easter Road (Monday 11th October, Scotland v Iceland)

The draw for the under 21s play offs takes place at 11.30am and Scoopyboy understands that the tie is virtually certain to be played at Easter Road.

Only England may scupper it as that would probably be played in Glasgow.

Why should that scupper it? If it's a capacity thing 20,200 at ER is better than 25,000 at Hampden. If we even get that many to attend.

You are of course correct but you try explaining logic to the SFA.

Scotland v England..? I'd expect alot more than 25k at Hampden TBH. I'd go along if it was against England just for the wee occassions, wouldn't go to 'big team' (not hertz ) game though.

The draw on tele?

probably the best draw we could have hoped for.

If i dont manage to get tickets for the Spain game on Tuesday i will definitely be going to the game at ER (presuming that the first named team in the draw plays at home first) :agree:

Great draw for Scotland and all the best to the Under 21's!

From a Hibs point of view its great to showcase our stadium in this kind of match. Does anyone know how much Hibs would stand to benifet financially from staging this kind of game!?

Excellent draw and you've got to think it will be at Easter Road. I'll definitely be along to that unless it's on the same nigh as the Spain game. Does anyone have a link to the goals from the U21s win against Austria? They were supposed to be two crackers.

is there any chance the board had an agreement with the SFA before the stand was built to hold U21's?

the board have came out and explained there intentions about holding some non-hibs matches at ER during the rebuilding of the stand

Oh ye of little faith Doddie.

My information came from Pittodrie on Tuesday night and I'm sure is correct.

The fact that we are at home in the second leg would help our cause as the "big" team are at home to Spain and would in my mind rule Glasgow out.

Dont think its as easy as that tho, in there group they thrashed Germany 4-1 at home!! Drew 2-2 with them away. Beat Northern Ireland home and away and beat San Mario 6-0 and 8-0.

If the match is at Easter Road i'll probably go along, presuming it's an evening kick-off.

I've always preferred giving my support to the 21's than the full Scotland side. Youngsters who really play for the jerseys and the team is rarely littered with Old Firm players. Plus there's usually one or two Hibbys in the squad.

A 7:45 kick off at Easter Road on Friday 8th October would attract a big crowd.

Fingers crossed.

The SFA will deem Easter Road and Pittodrie too big and will award the game to one of the smaller stadiums in Scotland.

Suits me fine as I can get a bus from my door to Tynecastle. :cool2:

Ah ha - a wee technical hitch!

I never realised that BOTH legs are scheduled to be played between these dates.
Looks like Monday the 11th could now be favourite as Stark wants to avoid the 12th if possible.

The only downside is that the east stand will be infested with Yams, Huns and Sellick supporters. All trying to grab a quick smoke in our new toilets. Barstewards. :grr:

Good news that it is a ER. But I really wonder what the people at SFA/UEFA think about when setting these games.

A 7pm ko would have meant a lot of kids could have gone but 7:45 means a half nine finish (assuming no extra time) and not home till about half ten.

We were going to run a bus for the 40 kids that play football at the local primary school. But now we'll probably get only half that number going as it'll be too late for younger ones and I can't see the school being that happy about them being out until half ten either.

Hopefully still get a big crowd anyway.

This is great news and just shows what a decent modern stadium can bring in benefits to the club. Not sure how much we will make but this is the new East starting to pay for itself. Yet another thing we as a CLUB can be very proud of. Just nead the TEAM to start to catch up with the rest of the place and we will be laughing.

Bitterly disappointed in the SFA in having anything as new-fangled as a Facebook page. I've sent a note to George Peat and expect him to do the right thing and dismiss those responsible for this outrage.

Regarding the ER tie, it'll give those smelly Yam tramps a chance to come along to a proper Edinburgh soccer stadium and see what it's like. Who knows, some may even like the modern association football experience and defect. Keep them out the back of east though, the obese mo-fu's will never manage the steps without experiencing serious respiratory and cardiac issues. On second thoughts...

NO YAMS WERE HARMED IN THE HIJACKING OF THIS THREAD
