Liam Miller.

Murray would get it surely. Rankin would be another good shout. Not the most talented player we've got but to be fair to him, he never hides, gives his all and would be pretty vocal out on the field (unlike Hogg) He also seems to be a model pro off the field and on the training pitch.

Voted for Miller, but fear that he might be a bit hot-headed to club captain. If not him, them Murray.

If Yogi sees Murray as a regular this season he would be the best captain. If Murray ends up being more of a squad player from now on, then Miller should get it.

Careful, the official stance of the angry mob is Rankin isn't suitable for anything involving Hibs.

FWIW, however, I agree that Rankin is a model pro. If all eleven players gave the same effort we wouldn't be in such rotten form.

McBride for blootering the ball off of that flange Lafferty.

In hindsight, it's just a pity it never hit Lafferty square on the puss! :sairhead:

Sol Bamba and when he leaves Ian Murray if he's a regular in the team.

Call me old fashioned but I'm a firm believer that the captain should form part of the defence and it's not a job for a forward. Saying that I wouldn't hand the role to the goalkeeper either.

Fabio phoned him yesterday and asked him to pack a bag, get up Edinburgh airport and jump on a flight to Switzerland to meet up with Rooney and the gang. Hogg has told Hibs that he wishes to retire from domestic football to concentrate on his international career.

Or how about we stick with the current incumbent and give him a bit of support for once?

Novel concept, I know.

McBride.

Dont see Murray featuring too much if he keeps playing the way he has been (especially if Yogis wanting to try the 3 at the back he mentioned), and think Miller can go hiding a bit in games if isnt going our way.

McBride.

Miller and Bamba will probably leave by the end of the season. Deeks could be one cos he's a Hibby and great goalscorer but don't think he's captain material.

Murray is finished in the next season or two IMO and might not play as many games this season as he has in the past with new players coming in. Might not happen but with Grounds, Hart, Bamba, Hogg and Stephens available at the back opportunities might be limited.

Bit premature this thread? Hogg hasn't had the captaincy taken from as yet? But I suppose its inevitable. Kinda feel sorry for Hogg, the captaincy has done him no favours.

Anyhow.....Bamba for me. We should offer him improved terms for a 2 year spell and the captaincy as a carrot. I believe he would be a great captain and might inspire him to stay another season beyond this one.

Any player that wants to can be a leader on the pitch. I think people get a bit carried away with what a captain is or isn't supoposed to do out there.

The role of club captain has far more to it than we'll ever see and I gather Hogg is excellent at doing those duties.

Can't say I'm bothered either way, as I said, all the other players mentioned are out there on the pitch and perfectly entitled to influence people as they see fit anyway.

I'd have Puyol as the captain, but there's just one small flaw in my plan. Can anyone spot it?

Exactly - really can't work out why people get so excited about the Captain's role, when essentially all it really involves on the pitch is tossing the coin before the game.

There will be plenty of players out on the pitch who shout, motivate, and lead by example.

Its a strange one but its almost like people think changing the Captain will suddenly end all our problems.

Thinking back in recent times the same thing happens - people clamour for a new captain because they feel the current one isn't good enough and suggestions for better captains come up. If a new one is appointed then it won't be long until people will be questioning his ability as captain and off we go again....

Na, whats the point? Hel leave in the next couple of years anyway. Murray should be captain.

I think the captains role is very important, especially at a team like Hibs where until recently we have had a very young squad. I think the youngsters need someone to look to, and listen to.

Plus if Rangers never had little rat Barry Ferguson who would have moaned into the refs ear for 94 mins every game!
