Annual Holiday Entitlement

Can anyone confirm the legal minimum holiday entitlement?

I was under the impression it was now 24 days plus bank holidays but I've just been offered a job with 28 days including bank holidays. My previous 2 jobs have been 32 days including bank holidays (24 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays).

You do not have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays. If your employer gives paid leave on a bank or public holiday, this can count towards your minimum holiday entitlement.

I just started a new job in January and i get 20 days plus bank holidays. Once i have been here 5 years i will get 25.

I think every company is different.

My work offer 20days plus 8 bank holidays when you start rising to 25 days plus 8 BH after 2 years then 27 days and 8 BH after 5 years.

As TC's link states it is law that every worker should be given 28 days paid leave. It is actually now European law that these must be taken.

These 28 days can and in a lot of cases do include bank holidays and 'stautory' holidays like Christmas...of which there is 8 in the UK I think. Therefore the minimum 'normal' holidays a place of work can offer is 20 + 8. A lot of places give the bank holidays as floating days to allow you greater flexibility.

If you place of work gives you the 8 bank holidays + anthing more than 20 days then they are being generous...some reward more loyal workers with more days, some use it as a part of the overall package to attract better staff.
