I was at college with a guy who was kidnapped by dealers , tied to a chair with his feet in pots while the kettle boiled and doused in petrol !
He got off with a battering from baseball bats. He was in the house for 12 hrs.
He owed them for a bag of smack.

This was in Calder when the Irish gangs moved in and tried to take over.
It was all over the papers at the time.

the daily records continuing fascination with anything related to glasgow gangsters is a constant source of amusement to me...following on from 20 years of stories about old favourites, joe bananas hanlon and paul(im an author now,honest)ferris, we now have the lyons/daniels 'crime clans' era...my particular favourite story is the one from a wee while back when 'the gerbil' was assasinated in a cut price hit in the asda car park at robroyston....apparently 'gerbil police' were activated and these special recruits were given the task of apprehending the jakey that done the deed...for weeks afterwards we were given 'gerbil police' updates and we learnt that they were using their special gerbil powers to sniff out the baddies...i think they got a 28 year old junky who done it for a bag of smack but the image of gerbils dressed up as police will never leave me...now we will probably be deluged with stories of 'mutilated manhood police' as the hunt for the psychos with drills intensifies...i'm trying not to think of a wee slashed up willy dressed up as a cop but its too funny not to...

I agree with that up to a point. Unfortunately, innocent bystanders sometimes get caught up too.
