View Full Version : How about we adopt a "revolutionary" signing policy?

...as some of the balance sheet junkies seem to want to feed us the line that the Old Firm aren't our "rivals" anymore, how about we move for some of Dun Utd & M'Well's best players, such as Gomis & Bauben or Murphy & Quinn?

Or we just stick to loan deals for ex-Falkirk players?

Bryson from Killie would be 500k well spent I think.

Calm down signing a player with proven SPL experience on the way up in his career with no ex Hibs or Yogi ties are you mad?

Notice how you made sure Stokes couldn't get a mention there

To be honest, we should never have signed Stokes seeing as he'd already worked with Hughes.

We need to sign a central defender like Hearts did when they bought Pressley. We need a leader, in fact 3 of them types would be nice, 2 central defenders and a midfielder. And a big target man, someone who can take the ball in and keep the bloody thing.

Because:

1) Rangers and Celtic have the revenue from gate receipts, sponsorship, TV deals and merchandising to limit the risk when investing substantial sums in transfers without the guarantee of a sell-on return.

2) Rangers and Celtic can lure our best players with the promise of higher wages, trophy-winning opportunities and the chance to play regularly in Europe. We can't necessarily offer any of those to the players of our SPL rivals, so the chances of them wanting to move to us (when compared to the likelihood of our players wanting to move to the Old Firm) is greatly reduced.

P.S. - Who is Quinn?

Is that not the guy who went to Cardiff? Motherwell finally got the cash after Cardiff signed Bellamy...?

They haven't been in any real sense since the late fifties.

Or we just stick to loan deals for ex-Falkirk players?

Ex Falkirk players:
Stokes - about to sell for C.£2.5million+
McBride - quite happy with him, personally
Gow (Loan) - punted after half a season and half a dozen games
Duffy (Loan) - hasnt been a Hibs player for more than a few hours and already written off.

By all means have a pop at Yogi, but base it on something approaching a sesnible fact.

:agree: We signed Stokes, an overwhelming success, and we are about to make a big profit. McBride, the huns game tells us all we need to know about him. When he plays, we are a better side, it was exactly the same last season. Gow, played a couple of games, got injured and left. Duffy not even played a game yet.

You can add cregg to that. Useful player with some bite. Could maybe have done with him yesterday.
