So, who do we think will get the final 3 places?

Would appear to be between:

Paul Casey
Padraig Harrington
Luke Donald
Justin Rose
Edoardo Molinari
Ross Fisher
Simon Dyson

Personally I think that Casey is a stick on, then it's probably between Donald, Harrington or Rose for the last 2 places, but i'd like to see Molinari get a place. Harrington has the experience, but he's not really had the form to merit a place!

Monty certainly has a headache...

Thoughts?

1. Donald (World Rank 10. Great form at Celtic Manor and recent RCs)

2. Rose (had a great season)

3. Molinari or Casey - probably the latter.

I wouldn't have Harrington - indifferent form, indifferent Ryder Cup form of late and too erractic.

Rose - 2 wins on PGA Tour. Just a shame they dont apply to Ryder Cup places.
Casey - Decent finishes in the majors. Good RC experience, with a few RC debuts this year.
Donald - Well he's in the world top ten, played well @ Celtic Manor before.

E. Molinari misses out, i'm sure he's played every qualifying event, but surely the fact he has, and still hasn't qualified on merit says enough.

Can see Harrington being picked though, at the end of the day, he's won 3 majors.

Would feel sorry for Rose if he didn't get a pick, as his form says he should. Ryder Cup is essentially PGA Tour v European Tour rather than USA's best golfers v Europe's best golfers.

My choice:-

Rose, Casey & Molinari

Monty's choice:-

Rose, Casey ------- and sadly Harrington.

After my net 62 the other day and getting cut 1.4 from 10 to 8 i deserve a pick :agree:

In all seriousness though, although Harrington annoys me, we need him.

Would love to see Casey, Rose and Donald though. I love Sergio Garcia but since Carnouste he has fell away.

I'd have casey , donald and fisher. ( slightly odd last pick i know but i think he's got the type of game we need for the rc team.) Paddy will no doubt be chosen instead though or perhaps rose , neither of which would be a bad choice imo due to paddys experience and jr's form. Its a good choice for monty to have to make even if it does give the crabbit bassa a headache :agree:

Casey
Rose
Molinari

That is the three I would pick, I'd avoid Harrington for the reasons stated by TQM above. Donald, as good a world ranking he has, he hasn't won enough tournaments for me which says to me he lacks the killer instinct.

Casey is a good matchplay player, Rose has been on fire recently and who would bet against a couple of brothers being an effective pairing in the fourballs/foursomes?

Donald has started -6 for the first 6 holes to take him to -9 in The Barclays!!

Monty has put back his decision until 18.30.....

Official announcement delayed until 6:30.

Molinari just HAS to be a pick after his performance this afternoon.

If he ain't then Monty will look a total buffoon as he has already emphasised the importance of playing at Gleneagles to all the contenders.

Tonight should be a great night's viewing and hopefully enough to make me partially forget yet another dreadful performance by the Hibees!

Harrington is a strange and wrong choice in my eyes. He's a poor record in the Ryder Cup and his form has been erratic to say the least this year.

Casey or Rose should have been in before him.

Jeez - first we had Yogi now we've got Monty!

Can't believe he omitted Casey. I certainly agree with the majority, that Harrington is the wrong choice.

I'd even rather have Casey than Edoardo Molinari to be honest, as he has consistently played at a high level and has a good record in the Ryder Cup.

Was also pretty dismayed to see Peter Hanson making the team - nowhere near a good enough IMO.

I bet Monty wishes he had as many picks as Corey Pavin!!!
