One for the more mature posters here.

Does anyone remember a bakers called Scot(t) Lyon. Apparently they had shops in Edinburgh, and operated from a depot in Trafalgar Street.

Any information would be helpful.

In the 60s they had a shop on Ferry Road quite near Dudley Avenue. Not sure where the others were. Think its a take away now - not been that way for a while.
.
They made butterscotch cakes that were to die for :-) so thought a wee boy who was about 10 at the time.

The impression of the name is still visible on the wall in Trafalgar street.

Not sure about any other shops he might have had.

Thanks for the information everybody!

I've seen the Lyons thing on the wall in Trafalgar Street, I thought it was something to do with the Lyons tea shops, or corner houses. I'll be looking again soon with renewed interest.

A man called Willie came round in a Scott Lyon van to sell bread to my ma in the late fifties/early sixties. I have a memory that in the late fifties it was a horse drawn van (and the horse wasn't even licensed! :grr:) and then later on just a regular van. Green with gold lettering is how I remember the Scott Lyon logo on the side, and I also think there was a swanky shop on Princes St, possibly on a corner where there's now a burger joint.
