After apparently discussing a contract?

all seemed set but Hibs called him back and said 'no, because he wasnt in shape'

according to the scotsman

Darijo Biscan (http://sport.scotsman.com/football/Hibs-mull-over-striker-but.6482939.jp)

seems like the player and the agent are both confused as to whats going on?
denneboom could still be in with a shout of a contract though.

Looks fairly straight forward. 2 strikers on trial. Expected Celtic move for Stokes fails to materialise and negotiations for replacement scrubbed. Meantime, Player looking likely to push Nish for his place in the squad seems to be still in the frame. All seems logical to me.

It did materialise but Hibs turned it down.

This is also what i heard.

'An insult' was how the offer was described to me. You would think these barstewards would have learned that no one rips of the tache.

whether a formal bid was made or not, it didn't happen.

I'd have thought Hibs would love to shout from the rooftops a Celtic bid for Stokes had been rejected. I'll surmise it was another wee Celtic biscuit tin slightly off-centre 'enquiry' at best.

Hibs are in a no win situation here.

If they let us know that they've turned down a bid they'll be accused of trying to generate a market for the player. If they say nothing about bids they're accused of selling players every time a bid is received.

But the night didn't go completely to plan for the Tynecastle outfit as Stephen Elliott was replaced in the first half of the 2-0 win with a hamstring injury and is now a doubt for Saturday's lunchtime kick-off at Hamilton

I wonder if possibly something more interesting has developed to grab Hibs attention....

Wouldnt surprise me.

We still need another striker though.

We've heard this sort of patter from Hibs before. I reckon there could be something in the deal still. Perhaps Hibs are pushing for a short contract to see what the boy has to offer over the season before tying ourselves down to a long term deal.

We'll have to shift a couple of players too, because the squad is bigger than it needs to be.

That's right, it would need to be stuck on with velcro for anyone to stand a chance wouldn't it?

According to today's Sun* Biscan rapped Hibs because he was so certain he was being offered a contract he turned down two others, and now feels let down.
