I don't know if it was just me but did anyone else see the old first half of last seasons Liam Miller?

He took his goal superbly and was linking up with deeks brilliantly.

He played well when he played further forward. He is not a sitting midfielder he is an attacking one and only got to play in that position when Nish went off and Stephens came on.

Yep, he looked really good today. My MoM capped off with the winning goal.

Deeks played well today also but left the shooting boots at home today methinks...snatched at a great late chance and had another couple which he could have done better with. Other than that he was excellent.

most of the team were decent. Nish as usual had everything bouncing off him and Spoon should have been on earlier in place of him tbh. De Graff????....hardly seen him.

I thought Miller and McBride both had decent games when on the ball, their passing was better and I'm sure I even caught McBride dribbling through the Motherwell defence and testing their goalkeeper in the first half.

If Miller and De Graaf can both add five or so goals to their game then it'll greatly improve our overall play. The only real deficiency in our attack before was that we became too reliant on Stokes and Riordan doing something special, isolating them up top us our midfield morphed into a static backline. More bodies making late runs and creating space can only help everyone at Hibs.

Today exemplified our best and worst qualities. Even though Motherwell dominated territorially in the first half we created the two best chances because, unlike the majority of the SPL, we have a genuine cutting edge. On the other hand we still defend like a bunch of strangers, we don't press in packs like Motherwell did to good affect and we have players that are still prone to panicking under pressure. Thankfully these are all self-inflicted and thus if we work on it we will improve.

In the meantime I reserve the right to stain my pants every time a cross comes into our box.

Riordan's cross for Hanlon anyone?..Not many players in our League that can whip in a delivery like that.

I wear pink frilly underwear and I love you Derek Riordan.

Absolutely bang on..one more of the advantages of a "Nishless" Hibs team imo.

We played some lovely stuff in the last half hour.

Miller was superb today and as said earlier he had a poor game against maribor but back to his old self today. I feel that he needs to impose himself more as he has the ability and sometimes quite happy to blend in when he should be running the show.

Miller was our best player the day, no worries. Good to see him put a performance in and lets hope he is back to the form he showed 1st half of last season.

I wasn't at the match yesterday ( I was at the 6-6 though:boo hoo:) but I just watched the highlights and it's great to see Liam playing well again. He was outstanding for the first half of last season and probably my favourite player. He always got stuck into the tackles and usually came away with the ball. His passing was visionary and he looked like he was enjoying his football.

You can tell how much it meant to him to be back playing well from his reaction when he scored.

Problem was he hadn't played a full season for a long time, and understandably tired towards the mid-end of last season. I think it's going to be fun this season, especially if he plays as the one in a 3-4-1-2 where he did so well for Celtic. :greengrin

He did have a fantastic game yesterday. His close control was excellent and had very good link up play, particularly with Riordan and a very well taken goal.

Liam, just like Deek plays his best football linking up with Stokes in the last 3rd rather than playing in his own half. When we stopped trying to pass our way through Motherwell and got the 3 of them further up the field we looked a totally different team. We need to get the 3 of them tied to Hibs for along as possible. Get it sorted Rodders!
