Hi folks, looking for suggestions.

Planning on going up to Skye with the good lady friend in September time - can anyone recommend a good B&B? I've had a look on the website and there are literally hundreds and it makes it very difficult to distinguish which are good and bad. So any help would be much appreciated!

Me and my partner went to Portree for 2 nights in October, we stayed in this Hotel:

Bar was very nice and rooms were ok, nice location and about 5-10 min walk from all the other bars, I would recommend it.

Acctually living on skye i'd reccomend either the cullin hills hotel, the bosville hotel or marmalade hotel as potential places to stay. These are all in the main town of portree which is handy. Dont know enough about the local b&b's to say which is a good choice.

The Three Chimneys is absolutely phenomenal. Not sure of your budget but if you can, go for it.

Been there for lunch. Unquestionably one of the finest resaurants in Scotland :agree:

Stayed in the Royal Hotel in Portree, decent bar and good food with nice rooms.

I don't know about the B&Bs I'm afraid.

The White Heather Hotel (http://www.whiteheatherhotel.co.uk/) in Kyleakin is worth staying at - a cooked breakfast to set you up for the day! Stayed there on our honeymoon almost 4 years ago. Run by a lovely Geordie couple - who can talk for, err, England...

Similarly, if youare not ona budget and want to treat yourselves I'd recomend Kinloch Lodge, Excellent food, and a homely atmosphere at the south end of the island.

If you want somewhere more central then the Cuillin Hills Hotel in Portree and The Hebridean Hotel in Broadford are worth trying.

If you want somewhere in the middle of nowhere - Upper Edinbane - I know a couple who do B and B, very nice house and I'm sure that Ann cooks a good breakfast. The main village is walkable and there's a pub and a shop or 2 there but not much else. But Portree is the place to stay if you want to be more in the centre of things.

Mrs Radge and I visited Skye a few weeks ago. It was lovely.

We stayed in the Pink guest house on the harbour. It was perfectly fine.

I'd recommend getting the ferry across from Malaig then driving back via the new bridge at the Kyle of Lochalsh. If you've got an extra day, spend a night in Plockton. Idyllic.
