Before I clicked on the link I wondered if it would be the Napoli Ultras arriving at Rome Termini :greengrin

From memory, this was Napoli's first season back in Serie A after a lengthy spell in the lower leagues. They took 8000 to this game, the Derby del Sud with Roma.

That season they also took 6000 to Milan and 5000 to Turin. That's like us taking the same numbers to London and Birmingham.

When they were in Serie C, ala Leeds in League 1, they had the 3rd highest average attendance in Italy (around 45,000) and actually had 51,000 at their last home game of the season. That's a dedicated and passionate set of fans.

We don't have a passionate enough support these days to allow people to stand up at away games. I used to dream about seeing this kind of passion from hibs fans but it ain't ever gonna happen. Which is sad.

Would that be passion or legislation?

I will mention to my cousin who stays in Bath who has not missed a Hibs game in 3 years that we lack passion.

Our away support is one of the best in Scotland.

In terms of numbers, yes.

Not noisy enough though.

Don't you think these sorts of shows are never from british fans. Very rarely do fans in britain get involved in mass coordinated chanted. It seems to me that singing/chanting in the UK is more spontaneous other than when a song is played over a tannoy system like SOL or YNWA

To me thats loyalty not passion. By passion I mean the raw urge to roar on your team till your throat bleeds , to sing your effing heart out in the hope it encourages the players and to go absolutely bloody daft whilst supporting your team. Suppose passion means different things to different people though. We do have a good away support in terms of numbers but we do not make the same amount of noise as some of the fans in all these youtube links , nor anywhere near it in fact and that won't change. Hope to christ it does but cannae see it.

That one beats them all - and not just because of the 5 second clip of my daughter swaying along 2 mins 10 (wearing my jacket and my socks - shivered her way through the first half and I took over the big chill in the 2nd....thankfully the bouncing warmed us up). Oh happy days.

In Oz we had the youth world cup a few years ago and the Turkish Fans were all lead by a couple of guys running up and down orchestrating the chanting 1st time I had ever seen that.

I'm not sure it's a case of lack of passion, more the ridiculous legislation that stops clubs having a standing area at games. IMO a standing area would allow those who wanted to stand and bounce about and so on to do so and those who wanted to sit and watch the football and maybe have a wee sing song now and then could do so.

At the CIS cup final in 2007 i saw a classic example of this, there was an old boy about 5 seats along from me, he must have been in his 80s and looked really unsteady on his feet, right in front of him there was a group of guys in there late teens who wanted to stand, for about the 1st 15 minutes or so the old boy managed fine but after a bit he asked them pleasantly enough if they would mind sitting down as he had to and couldn't see if they were standing, a stupid argument followed because they said they wanted to stand and stewards and police ended up having to calm the situation. If there was a standing area and a seated area this would have avoided a situation like this arising and the standing area would have gathered those who wanted to stand and create a decent atmosphere.

As well as that i also think the quality of football and poor crowds also it difficult to be bothered creating a good atmosphere away, places like Ibrox, Celtic Park and Tynecastle normally see us create a reasonable noise; the 1-1 game at Ibrox last season was a great atmosphere. Unfortunately a wet Wednesday in Hamilton or Paisley doesn't particularly excite me, trying to get a banter going with a couple of thousand home supporters watching terrible football makes it hard to stir up the kind of passion you see in those videos.

Video's don't half show the Scots/Brits up. Domestically and abroad, no country comes close to the numbers that Scottish and English supports take away. But we aren't half a bunch of boring barstewards! Obvisouly that isn't all our faults, strict (daft) stewards and stewarding policies, our own intelorrant and moany fans, high ticket prices etc etc all help.

Best atmosphere last season for me was away to Celtic, that Wednesday night game. Fantastic Hibs support, around three quarters stood, singing all night, even 1-0 down. Think it helps because the away section at Celtic (and Rangers) is so small, so you could be a few feet away from the next group of lads up for a singsong, compare that to most other grounds were you could have groups of singers at opposite ends of the stands. Great night that one, no deaths or crushes due to standing, no pensioners or kids kneeling over as a result to standing aswell, who would have thought it

Hopefully it will be a similar atmosphere in a few months when we play at Ibrox on a Wednesday night.:agree:
