Just Back from Holiday...in ROTHBURY

I kid you not. ....a week in peaceful quiet rural Northumberland with the family & wifes mother & brother in a farm on the outskirts of a place called Rothbury:shocked:....looked forward to it for ages.....but then last week has hardly been a normal week......

It all feels a tad unreal at the moment....like a longish dream...more coffee needed I think

Not last night as we were stuck between 2 of the 3 rings of police cordons at a pub on the outskirts about 1/2 a mile away.

was all a bit surreal...made all the more so by the circus of press and TV from Tuesday onwards.

Were out visiting Hadrians wall etc Tuesday and were met by armed police on the moor above the village on the way home...searched by armed police 4 times before making it back to accomodation....counted 14 ARV's one day in 3 mile journey including the PSNI specialists brought over...

Nope not me...but wifes mother & brother and the kids were interviewed by SKY (wife and I pretended not to know them :wink:) plus other un planned appearences in the back ground.....prety hard not to get involved...so may press and TV in a small village trying to fill space / pages when things were slow that i'm sure even the post office cat was asked his opinion.........

I think too many - press particularly - seemed to forget that a man had died and two others were in hospital with serious injuries.....and were treating it like a movie.....:rolleyes:

I asked some police officers just before the final stand off how their colleague was doing...they said his injuries 'were life changing'...I asked would he get back to even a desk job 'even thats unlikley' was the reply......pretty sad really when so random as a result of false claim made......

I believe that the officer has lost both eyes, his life has certainly changed.............
