Bob Probert dies at 45.
The toughest player to play the game.
God bless you big man.

Bob Probert is one of the few men tough enough to have fought Wendel Clark and not have all the blood punched out of his body. By all accounts he was a truculent and talented hockey player. The fact that Red Wings fans still wear his jersey to games is a fitting tribute to his popularity. I hope in death he can find the peace he so often struggled to in life.

Bob was indeed a fearsome scrapper.
A fond memory of him was when he visited here in Nottingham with a charity team of NHL old-timers put together by the great Bobby Hull. In a good natured and fun affair, a couple of tiny Nottingham Pee-wee players were given a shift out on the ice while Bob was on. Proby jokingly dropped onto his knees in front of one of the little lads and invited him to jump him and have a scrap with him! The crowd were falling about laughing.
A memorable moment for that youngster that he will remember forever. It showed the other side of a man with quite a 'reputation'.
RIP Bob Probert, too young.
