Will Vlad's strategy pay off and force someone stupid enough to pay more than £3.5M for this guy or will they burn their bridges and leave themselves with a disillusioned player( and no doubt injured player) who misses out on a move to his home country England?

Why anyone would pay anything even close to that for a player that got about 3 assists and 2 goals in a piss poor scottish league is beyond me.

I realise he's a young player with potential, however thats surely cancelled out by the fact he's so injury prone.

Hearts should accept any reasonable bid they get for Driver, struggled with injury recently and not played much football.

A good player and a good guy but i believe he has a similar injury to McCann and recovery from these types of problems are variable. Quick move for any reasonable bid would be better for the player and for Hearts imo.

This is the same road they went down with the flying trout Berra, one moment it was so many millions from this club etc, finally the accepted £900,000 from Wolves.

Did they not get £2m for him

Makes absolutely no difference to them anyway TBH so it doesn't matter if he goes for a pound or the hundred billion quid that Vlad appears to be holding out for

Yams got far in excess of £900k for Berra. Burnley are very interested in Driver.

Oh, how I laughed when I read this:

I think Vlad is genuinely going to hold out for it. He's seen us do it time and time again and knows the clubs down there have the money.

What I don't get is why they want to sign a player who may miss preseason due to an existing injury and how he'll pass a medical. I suppose Liverpool signed Aquilani!

3 and a half pence would be more reasonable, he has'nt done anything for a year.

Anyone know what the Burnley fans make of it? Do they even know he's a crock that has barely played in a year?

They should hold out to get as much as they can. Why on earth not?

It really doesn't matter though.

FJK won't see any of the fee and it weakens their playing pool.

:agree: £3.5M for a player who is injured, will miss pre season and hardly kicked a ball last year, thats good business that Petrie would have been proud of!!

Lets be fair...a fit and fully functional Driver is probably worth that. However in his current state Burnley are right to want to pay in installments etc.

If Burnley pay the money quoted upfront then they need straight jackets.

I'm sure Vlad will be able to " launder " a fitness certificate for him. :greengrin

Great news indeed.

Hope he stays at Hearts and they get no money for him whatsoever..Id rather have a Driver playing 7 or 8 games a season for them opposed to them getting millions, For lets be honest a seriously average player.

Hearts have every right to hold out for whatever they want for Driver, and Burnley have a cheek moaning to the papers because a bid was turned down.

HOWEVER

In exactly the same way, Hearts have a cheek moaning about Goncalves not signing so they could make a fast buck. Trying blackmail and ultimately destroying any chance (however slim) a young player had to represent his country in the world cup finals.

The double standards from the Hearts support on this one are astonishing. How any young player with any ambition could consider going to a club where they are simply a business asset is beyond me.

Given his injury siuation I don't think any right thinking club will consider him certainly not at that ridiculous price. He'll have to wait a bit and prove he can still perform.

If Driver's still crocked they're going to have to try and punt Wallace. If they'd got decent money for Driver they might have been able to keep him.

:agree:

I think the reason Hearts are playing "hardball" just now is because the injury he's carrying is going to take longer to clear up, and therefore would fail any pre signing medical. If he's still going to be out for a while, when (if) he is actually fit again, they can crow on about how much they rejected for him the last time when the next transfer window opens.

I'm absolutely astonished Burnley have apparently bid £2.5mm for him with add ons to $4mm. Can only think they were so pleased with profit on Fletch they've decided to speculate to accumulate. Personally I think the lad's a decent player but with his record, £1mm would be a good return for Yams.

Interesting as to what happens now, will the healthy interest come to anything or have they be forced into accepting the next offer which comes in?

They really are a vile nasty football club that have selected fans that are just ******s.

There's something not quite right about that football club.
