On a serious note im surprised the sfa haven't thought of bidding for upcoming european champs or world cups its not like we don't have the resources or staduims (exception of tynie of course:greengrin) to host the event. Have we ever bid for either of these?

The current head of the SFA is George Peat, does that answer your question?

Think the last time there was an issue about how many stadia there could be in one city, eg, there couldn't be the 3 main Glasgow stadiums used. I think the Scotland bid only works in partnership with another country.

Scotland certainly don't have the criteria to host the World Cup, no where near it. You would need to have stadiums of over 40,000 in at least 5 or 6 different cities, England have a good bid for 2018 tbh.

I think we tried to put a bid in a few years back with Ireland and Wales for the European Championships 2012 but it didn't go very far.

Did we not have a good shout for 2008 with Ireland until some GAA bams said we couldn't use Croke Park?

I think it was more to do with the judges being shown empty fields, with their Irish hosts saying "this is where we are going to build an 80,000 seat stadium. Our opponents had real grounds that had real seats.
