I've just found out I've run out of marge.

What would you recommend as an alternative spread?

I've got my eye on the tomato sauce but what would you use?

I've only partial beer goggles.

I'm no fussy.

As long it is moist and juicy I'm happy to munch most anything.

Mayo. But spread it fairly thinly.

Mayo's a great idea

But I made a tuna mayo sandwich for my piece today and used the last of it

I'd to collect my lad's new contacts after work so never made the shops. The cupboard is pretty bare.

BTW. Dry cornflake sandwiches are cr@p.

You can't have butter at this time of year

If you keep it in the cupboard it melts and if you keep it in the fridge you need a saw to get a slice off.

You'll be glad to hear I survived the night:whistle:

Luckily I have a little bit (OK a lot) of excess fat around my waist to see me through this kind of emergency.

Right, I'm off to the shops on my way home from work this afternoon. I usually buy Flora but I am willing to try any other spreads anybody wants to recommend. I remember eating lemon curd as a lad but if I recall correctly it was as sweet as the sweetest thing you could get in a sweet shop in Sweetville. I'm not as keen on sweet thing as I used to be.

Open to suggestions though

From a real school test;

Q. What is the best way to keep milk fresh?

A. Keep it in the cow.

Chocolate spread is bowfin'.

Peanut butter on the other hand is :yum yum:

Might get some of that.

Are you a smooth or crunchy person?

I keep hearing of this American snack but I'm not sure I get it

So you make a sandwich with peanut butter and jam and just eat it?

What kind of jam would you recommend?

It sounds disgusting but I'm game to try it.

I thought the same about cheese and jam till I tried it and it's the dugs danglies of sandwiches.

But you're happy to feed it to me :bitchy:

I'm no coming to yours for my tea.

I'd just get the crud from the back of your cupboard that has been there for ages cos you don't like it.

Mind you, if you've got a beer to wash it down I might consider it :hmmm:

Yep, that's pretty much it!

I don't eat them regularly (as they're rediculously bad for you), but if the craving takes me, then it's bread with smooth Smuckers PB on one slice, accompanied by a smooth apple or strawberry jam on the other, and then both slices combined.

It's a bit like Marmite though - you'll either love it or hate it!

Smooth peanut butter and strawberry jam. I like them both so it wont go to waste. It's just the combination that sounds dodgy to me.

OK. I will give it a try tonight and let you know what I think.

Cheers bud

That's one of the pleasures of eating peanut butter.

You get two goes at it.

Tomato sauce sandwiches are soooperb. Used to eat them when I was younger, before my Mum came home to make the tea coz she wouldn't notice a couple of slices of bread missing.

Butter and sugar sandwiches are the mutts nuts! :greengrin

That was my pudding whem I was a lad :greengrin

And the only way my mum could get me to eat lettuce was to roll the leaf round a teaspoonfull of sugar, like a kind of sweet spliff.

Kinda defeated the purpose

Peanut butter and jam toasties. Mind and let it cool down though or you'll melt you face off.

Well there you go again.

I went to the shops, got loads of food for the weekend, and forgot the peanut butter and strawberry jam

That's how I ran out of marge in the first place.

Sorry TSSF. I will try it.
