Can someone recomend a good camera? I've never had a digital camera but understand the more megapixels the better (i think  :greengrin)

Dont want to spend too much on one - budget less than £100 but would like a small camera that is simple to use.

Also - do I need to buy a separate memory card? Which type and what size is good enough to be able to take a few pics?

I have had a Sony DSC T50 for a few years and it's been brilliant for pics and video.

7.2MP and if you can still find them for sale you won't go wrong for a compact. (check my youtube videos) Get a couple of 2GB memory sticks for under a tenner each on ebay and that'll be plenty for any occasion.

Anyone?

Based on what you are looking for in a camera that looks like a no bad deal to me.

And yes from what I can see in the spec it takes a standard SD card just like your other link. From the price it's worth buying 2 so you can take movies as well and you don't need to worry about the card filling up.

Just watch where you are buying the cards from though. My old man got a 16GB SD HC card from a seller on ebay at a price to good to be true he said. And yes it was, no more capacity than 1Gb with a different sticker :faf: I did tell him but he wouldn't listen.

Jessops in Shandwick Place is excellent for advice - especially if you can get the white haired guy who is easily one of the best informed and not too pushy people there. He'd give you the best advice. Many then go to eBay and buy the same model for a fraction of the price but be careful, reputable brand models bought from the Far East are often 'grey imports' which dont have the same warranties.
Don't go simply on the size of megapixels - lens quality is also important.
Hope this helps
