It was mentioned on the PM board that we were playing Heracles, couldn't see it on the main forum so thought I'd post it.

http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.heracles.nl%2Fnieuws%3FnewsId%3 D4889&sl=nl&tl=en

Good news is that you can get the train straight from Schiphol to Almelo in just under two hours. From the article though, it seems like we're playing it in Tubbergen, just outside Almelo, and when you look for TVC on Google Maps, it looks like a couple of training fields.

I'm sure all will be revealed through the official channels in due course, but I quite fancy this!

How much would a flight to Holland cost? Sounds like a nice wee day trip, trains in Holland are dirt cheap, but it clashes with the Open, and I may just be doing a bit of hospitality work then. Hopefully they can shift the date to the next week as i'd be up for that depending on price.

I believe Basta*rdair.ie fly from Prestwick to Bremen, and a train goes direct to Almelo from Bremen. Alternatively ********air also run a bus to Groningen and I'd imagine it would be easy to get overland from there.

This site is invaluable for planning public transport use in Holland: (http://www.ns.nl/reisplanner-v2/index.shtml)

There is an English option, but to make the most of it try persevering with the Dutch one, as it has more options.

if true ill be there. be glad to help anyone when confirmed

it will take forever to get from groningen to almelo

best bet is eayjet to amsterdam or a flight to eindhoven or rotterdam

it is half way between rotterdam and eindhoven and about 1 hour thirty from schipol on train

amsterdam flights usually cheaper

alternative if group . get ferry to ijmuiden from newcastle and get bus to amsterdam and train from there prob about 2 and half hours

Cheers mate, it was hard to tell from the map, hour and a half from Schiphol doesn't seem too bad. Ferry not working out much cheaper than Easyjet at the moment.

I've got my work cut out. I've waited years for Hibs to play in Holland (or whatever province it's in). Now money is v. tight, but I'll give it a good go.

9 games in less than a month, with two of them being in the Euro qualifiers, now that's a busy schedule.

Certainly leaving no stone unturned in terms of being match fit for the Euro games in case we draw a Scandinavian side, I suppose.

Am gutted by this. Any other year I would be delighted with this trip but because we are in Europe I cant afford both so I am holding out for the Europa League draw.

I wish we were not in Europe now as the trip to Holland will probably be better.

Why did my mate decide to get married (and have his stag weekend) in July? Between that and the Europa Cup trip I'll have to pass on this brilliant wee jaunt.

I'm not based in the Netherlands but I've just checked a map which states that Almelo (where Heracles are from) is just over 90 miles from Amsterdam, The Hague (where Den Haag are from) is about 40 miles from Amsterdam and Arnhem (where Vitesse Arnhem are from) is about 65 miles from Amsterdam.

Hope that helps a bit.

It really depends what the other fixture is. I would recomend staying maybe Den Haag or Rotterdam.Theres much more to Holland than Amsterdam and in summer it will be peak costs. Good night out to be had in both cities and will be cheaper

Den haag is about 40 mins train direct from Schipol and Rotterdam an hour
Both have easy access to Amsterdam and trains run all night on these routes

If the other game is in south west you could prob stay Utrecht too

However if amsterdam is your bag they are all easily reachable by train and will be good day trips if you stay for a week.

Happy to help if I can and I will be traveling for all games from Haarlem . Most likely with a few converted Hibees from here

I'm tempted to go to either the Den Haag game or the Arnhem game, flights not cheap though and I don't have much in the way of work.

I posted this on the Bounce earlier:

Arnhem - Saturday 24th July

Ryanair

Fri, Jul 23 Flight 6242
Depart Edinburgh (EDI) 14:20
Arrive Düsseldorf (Weeze) (NRN) 16:55

Sun, Jul 25 Flight 6241
Depart Düsseldorf (Weeze) (NRN) 17:30

Arnhem is around 70km from Weeze. Direct link by Airport bus to the city centre.

ADO stadium is on the edge of the city if you are staying in The Hague there is normally free bus service to the stadium on match days.
There is a club house right outside the ground for a pre match bevvy.
They have a great supporters organisation which might be worth getting in touch with but cannae find the link the noo.
If there was a game I would like to go to it would be the ADO game, the atmosphere in the stadium is very good even for pre season games and the city is not bad for a beer. They have a couple of Irish bars (of course) and a couple of city centre squares with plenty of bars.
The Hague train station(Centraal Station) is only a couple of hundred metres from the centre so it is easy to get to
The ADO fans even took in one of the Hibs v M,well games in season 2006-7.
Due to ADO having in the past a very bad reputation fot trouble you may well find a ticket compulsory for this game and ID will probably be asked, and we may well be given the visitors part of the stadium.Unlike Essen where we all mixed.Dont worry though its a much changed club to the club it was a few years ago, theres a large number of families attend the games since the stadium was moved out of the city. Although if we have folk looking for trouble they will definitely find it and the ADO hooligans were/are known to be the worst in Holland.
If you are going to Arnhem they have a great square in the city centre which I remember from the Scotland game there, its also a bus journey to the stadium, for transport I would fly to Weeze,Dusseldorf with Ryanair, its usually a bit cheaper.
But a better idea might be to get a single on easyjet to Amsterdam and first head off to the ADO game then travel upto Arnhem for the Vitesse game and fly back from Dusseldorf?

Will definitely be over for either the Heracles or Arnhem game. Depends how I fare getting time off.

Unless the unfilled fixture is against Ajax - then all bets are off, and I will be robbing a bank, and staying in the best accomodation in Mokum, with a sedan chair to ferry me around. Some things in life are too precious to pass by.
