Really want to get this for the World Cup by my Dad reckons that cos the TV is 720p it wouldn't be worth it. I was under the impression that all TV's that are labelled 'HD ready' have always supported both this and 1080i.

Can someone a) tell me if HD is worth it on 720p and b) tell me whether or not my tv is likely to support 1080i also?

Thanks!

Don't think there's a noticeable difference in quality between 720p and 1080i. 1080p on the other hand is True HD and gives noticeably better clarity.

Ah I see :greengrin So do Sky do all three?

Do you think it would be worth the tenner for the WC?

Sky HD boxes don't do 1080p anyway so your 720p TV will be fine.

Exactly.

Fraser, I'm insulted you never came and spoke to me about this.

Sky HD will look just fine on your TV. Find out the model number and google it to see if it does 1080i, I suspect it will though. Or alternatively, connect up your Xbox and set it to show 1080i - if it does then Sky HD will be perfect.
