 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1283528/Steve-Bruce-lines-5m-Chris-Kirkland-replace-Craig-Gordon-Sunderland.html

Without him last season [when he was not injured] Sunderland would have been relegated :agree:

Bruce is still unsure about Craig Gordon, a £9m signing under Roy Keane, and Kirkland ranks highly on his list of possible replacements.

????????????????

After all the games he nearly single handedly kept Sunderland in last year??

I know he's got his weaknesses, but every keeper he's as good as any keeper outside the elite of Reina, van der Sar and Cech (and possibly Gomes). Chris Kirkland's not exactly perfect either.

Bruce is an idiot if he gets rid of Gordon. Does have some injury problems but on his day he is top class.

Gordon must be on his way to Man U or Arsenal IMO

Arsenal seriously need a half decent goalkeeper:agree:

I hope he goes to Man Utd.

He's the type of player Fergie likes, a british player who will most likely provide a long term commitment to Man U.

The more Scotland players playing at that sort of level is what we need.

I hope he goes to Man Utd as well... he would only go from strength to strength. Already one of the Premierships top 'keepers!

I don't really think Kirkland has reached his potential from all the hype when he first broke on the scene...

Either Arsenal or Man Utd would be good. As people have said, the more playing at this sort of level the better for the national team.

Does have some injury problems

Never really fully recovered from that derby when he was shot just after Deano Deano scored a pen.

Arsenal could do worse than get him.

A great example of what goes around comes around.

I'm still in shock Deano got sent off, we would have won that game if it wasn't for that cheating spotty faced arse bandit.

Love to see him at Hibs if not defo Man U.
There have been rumours around this part of Lancashire that Blackburn have been interested

Can't see him or Robinson being too keen at being sat on the bench, unless one of them is on the way out.

Think Gordon would be better served at a club where he will be playing regularly though rather than ending up like Ben Foster did at United with very little gametime.

Exactly what i thought as soon as i read the post title. It wont be anything to do with the fact he isn't good enough in Bruce's eyes, Its prob the fact that hes almost certain to move on to one of the top teams. I know Arsenal have been tracking him for a long time

Please be signing for Arsenal. He would absolutely shine for a team who haven't had a consistently reliable keeper since Dave "The Pornstar" Seaman left (Danger Jens didn't get that nickname for no reason)

If Bruce can't see that Gordon has most definitely "got it", then he needs to turn his eyes the right way out.

Kirkland has that back spasm thingy that can strike at anytime and leaves him almost paralysed for a while. I may be pavering hish, but I am sure that it makes him dodgy for away games because sitting long distances on the bus brings it on and the ten hour flight to S Africa ruled him immediately out of the World Cup. Sure that Bruce rates the lad that went to Man City on loan, so Gordon must be destined for a bigger club if the story is true.:hmmm:

I think it was more to do with him not being good enough

Manchester United? Arsenal? Craig Gordon? Some chaps here have clearly taken leave of their senses. Blackburn, Bolton, Stoke possibly. I don't think Ferguson or Wenger would stoop to signing Jambo lesbian Sunderland reserves.

If Gordon could use his feet he might be of more use to a top team.

I can't see any of the bigger teams being interested.

I think he's closer to the standards of Man Utd and Arsenal than Blackburn, Bolton and Stoke.

Steve Bruce is obviously off his rocker. Craig Gordon is a great goalkeeper, and as has already been said, without him Sunderland would've been relegated.

And to replace him with Chris Kirkland? What a tool. He's a dodgy keeper if I've ever seen one.

Gordon will end up at a bigger club soon enough anyway.

Was he not previously linked with them when he was set to leave Hearts?

Would be a good signing for them IMO.

i remember last season Bruce coming out and saying he thought gordon was the big 4 standard, so cant see him replacing him unless someone has offered alot of cash.

“He’s got over the psychological issue with his performances. The big thing is getting over a broken arm,” he said. “He’s been tough mentally to play with a broken arm. He even now plays with a protective cast. He’s come through it and he’s producing the best performances of his life. If there’s been a better player in the Premier League over the last four weeks, I haven’t seen him.”
