Well done Sol :agree: would have been harsh if he had not made the cut

PS - great feature on http://www.skysports.com/football/world-cup-2010/ wher every team in WC has info on squads. You can see here each 30 or 23 if they have already been reduced...will help learn a bit about teams before they play :greengrin

Hearts fans are promised World Cup stars.
Kingston has cost Hearts a small fortune over the last few years and gets cut.
Bamba cost hibs £50k, and will be playing against Brazil and Portugal (hopefully)

No article - see post #3...its not England so no fanfare

Just look at teams you are interested in...and count...some have the full 30 (like England as not reduced / announced) others have the 23 as noted to FIFA

Any truth in the rumour Rod dressed as a Sheik and offered Sven money in a sting to ensure Bamba
made the squad.

From my knowledge, based mainly on FM, their strongest XI would be:

___________Barry

Eboue___Toure___Bamba___Demel

____________Toure
______Zakora______Romaric
Gervinho_________________Kalou
____________Drogba

Beeb catch up

They may have caught up, but they still have the squad wrong.
The write-up says Bakary Kone has been axed, but they still list him in the squad at the bottom
and they have omitted Seydou Doumbia, who earlier they say is in the squad.

Good point Callum.

I remember almost every Hearts fan I spoke to slagging us for signing a bombscare and indeed that wee Hertz pr!k Allan Preston actually pishin himself on the BBC 'through the night' programme.

Now we have a genuine "World Cup star" who will play for one of the outside bets for the WC.

Hopefully a warning to potential signings:

Hibs - (Bamba) Nurtured at club, treated in a proffesional manner, off to WC with best wishes of club and fans.

Hearts - (Goncalves) Blackmailed by club, left out of squad despite being best player, left out of WC and hated by sycophantic fans.

Gaun yersel big man!

Personally, I dont think he will be in the starting XI for their first match....and there are question marks over his ability to play at that level. But what an achievement for him. He deserves his place after some outstanding performances for us earlier on this season.

Don't remember that particular programme but I do remember hearing the beeb pretty much laughing their heads off during the first few games he played

Maybe that's worth a wee phone in to remind them ;)

I'm really pleased for Sol, this is terrific news for him.:agree:

Ultimately, it should be good for Hibs, too. Ideally I'd like him to stay at Easter Road for a bit longer but I think Sol will probably feel he's done his time here and will want to move on to bigger things, and fair play to him for that.

With a bit of luck, he'll shine against some of the world's best players and both he and Hibs will be able to take advantage of it.

Remember De La Cruz going for daft money on the back of a World Cup performance?
