Just wondered if anyone else has heard of Patrick McCarthy signing for us? He's a defender from crystal palace, Just seen something online about it could be a load of crap.

CPFC 2010 will have until close of trade tomorrow, in order to make a bid for troubled Crystal Palace.
The club are also prepared to cancel the contracts of several players:
Speroni – West Ham, Ambrose – Portsmouth, John – Millwall, Alan Lee – Leeds, Butterfield – Millwall, McCarthy – Hibernian, Danns – Bristol City, Scannell – Arsenal.

McCarthy isn't the biggest but he is very physical and would do a great job for us.
Despite the obvious problems at Palace, I don't think we'd be anywhere near competing with the wage levels he will likely attract.

I seen him play for them a few weeks back and thought he was a decent player. I was thinking at the time he's what we need. I'd be pleased if this rumour is true!

Has football rumours ever had a rumour that eventually went on to happen? :dunno:
Palace could be liquidated by 3pm tomorrow, they may have to sell quite a lot of players to raise cash or they'll be an ex club.

Are you sure??? I know that the TV revenue in Scotland is microscopic compared to down south, but Crystal Palace are far from alone in their desperate financial position - English Football as a whole is up to it's eyes in debt these days and IMO that - along with the converse fiscal situation at Hibs - has already had an effect in terms of the players we've been able to attract recently. Could you have imagined Hibs landing the likes of Stokes and Miller 5 years ago for example??? - I couldn't.
I'm not denying that clubs down south still have far bigger budgets than the SPL, but I think it's unlikely that many clubs in the Championship and below will be splashing the cash around willy nilly - like the huns up here, many will be tightening their belts in an attempt to keep their bank managers happy, which should give the likes of Hibs a better chance of competing for players if need be.

I'd take anything from that "football rumours" site with a pinch of salt.

If Sheffield Utd and Norwich want him then that's us beaten in terms of wages.

Dont know why so many people have a gripe with the football rumours website. yes much of it is a lot of mince but sometimes it has stuff that actually pans out. Remember, the site is called football rumours not football transfer facts.
I actually find the site quite amusing.
