Re: the first story - Where the hell was that wee laddie's father? From the sounds of the report, he was playing beside the escalators for a fair while.

I don't know. (Story 2) seems like a bit of common sense on the part of the judge. It's scary to think that these lorries have such a blind spot, but I don't think it would be fair to convict the driver.

It could well be that we have to review the safety of such large vehicles though (:flying elephant smilie here:).
