Which is the better value in terms of alcohol to cost? I think its the Erdinger by a good bit.
Weatherspoons in Nottingham sells a 500 ml bottle of 5.3% proof Erdinger for £2.35. A 330 ml bottle of 6.6% proof Leffe is the same price.
Calculate that!

By the way, I've had neither and I'm off to bed now but I know how much you like a puzzle!

Erdingers-you get 2.65 units of alcohol for the price whereas with the Leffe you get approx 2.2

To work out alcoholic units, the equation is:
Strength (%) x quantity (ml)
--------------------------------------
1000
E.g. Vodka:
(40 x 25)
-----------
1000
= 1 UNIT
Erdinger:
(5.3 x 500)
-------------
1000
= 2.65 UNITS
Leffe:
(6.6 x 330)
---------------
1000
= 2.18 UNITS
Now...... If they had been different prices, may have been different

It also has a shorter and more easily pronouncable name for the less adventurous in our midsts.

You only get a ding with Erdinger. I've just noticed, it's like someone without much confidence answering the question, "which 4 letter word is traditionally spoken before the word 'dong'?"
A particularly symmetrical beer.
That's certainly why I prefer it anyway.

That in itself is worth the extra money. :agree:
