Sure Ive seen a player in the Italian leagues playing for nothing a few seasons ago, think it was his final season though.

And while not nothing, Mido was only playing for £1k a week at West Ham which was a strange one.

Fair play to the chap. If other millionare footballers did this kind of thing it would be great, or even played for free for the clubs they support.

Come tae Hibs Messi your a die hard Hibee I hear.

:top marksfor his decency and integrity. He injured himself playing for his country and this ensures his club doesn't suffer as a result.
Wait till Vlad the Impaler hears he'll have it written into their contracts.

I thought he'd already tried not paying them? Admittedly that was sod all to do with the players' deciding to play for free :greengrin

Pretty sure Exteberria did it for Bilbao last season. He'd been there since he was 17 so wanted to give something back to the club.

You'd be correct in thinking that. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseba_Etxeberria)

Well done to the guy. Obviously committed to playing for his club rather than playing for the cash. :agree:

Now think how much money Hibs would save if Zemmama made up for all the games he's missed through injury. :hmmm:

Its a short career for footballers so i think he should have taken the money not as if his salary will make a big difference to Milan in the long run anyway:devil:
