C`mon let us be honest we haven`t had a centre-half since the big man left and this season and last night showed us all just how much he is missed.

Exactly, Hibs are vulnerable to any high balls, even the aimless ones, even when Scott Brown and co were playing he went for every ball that came into our half, or our penalty box for that matter, especially with the goalies we had, he even scored the odd goal.

He's missed alright, RJ was immense however Bamba is even better!:agree:

Agree if we would have had Jones or Bamba playing in that team last night it would have been won, however, the biggest problem is Right Back! It was obvious even at pre season that we desperately needed a RB and by January it was a necessity having played Thicot/Hogg/Wotherspoon none of which are RB's:boo :bitchy:
TO HAVE NOT ADDRESSED THE RIGHT BACK SITUATION IN JANUARY WAS TOTALLY INEPT:grr:
Total clearout of that defence required this summer Thicot & Hogg no better than cover at CH at best, at least one of them if not both should be shown the exit. Hanlon, even though he was crap last night has potential and should be kept, Murray needs to moved to Left Midfield. Simples.

I beleive we tried for at least two high quality right backs in January which we didn't get.

You have also to think back that McCann was supposed to be fit again and Wotherspoon was doing well there.

It would have been great to get the right player in but its more important that we get the right one as opposed to any one.

What like Gow & Smith?

As much as a right back is needed teams don`t have to go down the flanks against us, just hoof the ball down the middle or into the box and quite a few goalscoring opportunities will arrive.

Really?

According to our manager, he was happy with what he had in that department. He went out of his way to say that right back wasn't a concern for him.

Goal number 6th was really all about Hanlon being in better position then getting bullied out the way, a dreadful bit of defending and I hope is currently looking to sort this for future.

He said he was happy to stick with what he had, but after he had tried to sign at least two right backs.

Hmm... he did make a bid for Darren Barr, but then he also said that right back wasn't a problem:

Mind you, you can probably find a Yogi quote to support any argument you care to make, given how many contradictory comments he comes out with.

Darren Barr is a centre half. Never played a game at right back for Hughes. May tried him there.

We tried to sign at least two peopor right backs. I would expect Hughes to say after he didn't get any that he was happy then to go with what he had, what else is he to say to keep the players thata re left for that position interested for half the year??

How much do you want to lay on that a right back will arrive before the end of August?

One of them being Michael Hart ex Sheep at Preston who unfortunately for us got back into the PNE team around the same time when Fergie Jnr took over.

Exactly correct, timing was bad for us. Mind you, on last night's showing we need a left back also! Personally I would play IM at RB on Sunday, Hanlon LB with Bamba coming into the middle.
