View Full Version : The one thing we have learned from tonight

Is that the players (bar smith) are not the problem, but it is the manager. This may sound like an obvious thing to say given the abuse Hughes has been getting on these boards for sometime now

But for a while I was thinking it was the players that were the problem, that they were heartless and not playing for the shirt etc.

Tonight in the first 60 min we were excellent and yes we still conceeded but we were playing football and fighting.

John Hughes takes off Deeks and brings on McBride. We sit in and we allow them to attack us and pile the pressure on us and we crumble. This is not a new thing to happen to us... This has been hapening all to often this season.

It's easy to sit here and type things on a message board but Mr Hughes is at fault and no one else. He brought in Smith, he made Hogg his captain, he didn't sign a right back, he makes poor tactical descicions and makes poor substitutions.

Goodbye Mr Hughes

And Petrie next time make sure we appoint someone that is NOT connected to the club. It has never worked for us

Hughes has no idea how to go 4- 5 - 1 if he did that at 6 - 2 infront away from homw we win simple.

He only knows attack just not got a clue I bet the players are never set up
4 - 5 - 1 in training

The players must be included in the blame tonight though

It has never worked for usmake your mind up,is it Hughes or the defense or goalie ? ultimately our current manager must be responsible for losing a 4 goal cushion, but our back 4 (defenders) and goalkeeper were culpable for every goal we lost, although their equaliser was a peach,Hanlon had to stop it,but failed.

I reckon Hugh Shaw and Eddie Turnbull may not agree with you there

Hanlon should never have been left 1 on 1 with the forward. Match should have been closed out long before. Manager is a thick sh^t who couldn't put both his braincells together and see what needed done. Players should go down injured, take time with goalkicks, play short free kicks- kill the game and show a winning mentality. I'm sorry but no exHibs player who has gone on to become manager has ever done that with our team. The only solution is sack Yogi and make sure he takes that sad excuse of a goalie with him

the players are totally to blame, the workrate that got us the lead dissapeared after going 6-2 up, they then started sitting on top of the goalie, numpties!:grr:
