Reportedly linked to the South Park cartoon, would've caused carnage if it went off.

crazy that these people would want to kill or injure so many innocent people. If it was the two people who are in charge they were after why didnt they go for them directly instead of a potential mass murder. Not that going for the other two would have made it any better. Cowards

Now looking for a white guy in his 40s, New York mayor says it wasnt the work of Al-Qaeda.

...Although the worlds media yesterday already had the prime suspects and motive all worked out:rolleyes:

Yeah, poor old Al Qaeda. It's so unfair. You destroy two skyscrapers and murder two thousand people, and everyone gets on your case. They're really just a lovely bunch of people who get together now and again to compare beards.

Faisal Shahzad, a US citizen of Pakistani origin, is accused of driving the car bomb into Times Square on Saturday evening.

US Attorney General Eric Holder said Mr Shahzad was arrested at John F Kennedy Airport attempting to board a flight to Dubai.

Lots of people are too scared to say it but let's face it, most radical bombers targetting the west are of middle eastern desent.

When someone mentions bomb most people will now think of radical Muslims given that there are bombers blowing themselves and others up everyday of the year.

Thats probably true. However, it wasnt that long ago when right-wing nut McVeigh blew up the Oklahoma Federal Building killing 360 people or something. Sophisticated conspiracy, used fertilser just like the explosion at the weekend.

Had been identified, was being sought by the authorities, put on a 'no-fly' list and yet, still managed to book a ticket, walk through a packed airport, get through security, onto the plane and onto the runway before the plane was stopped.

Reassuring.

Admittedly, it would be better for him to have been stopped in the airport but you've got to admit that it's still pretty good.

They'd have to go through the booking process, all of the airlines bookings would then need to be cross referenced with lists of people on the no fly list (which no doubt contain their various aliases), track down the exact flight and then get the FBI to the airport to grab him without raising suspicion.

I suspect that the FBI don't tell the airport because they're probably not highly trained in dealing with people who have just tried to commit mass murder. I could be wrong on that though.

Up the terrorists, half of them couldn't terrorise themselves they're so **** at it (thankfully).

Apparently the airline had been using an old passenger list, a new one was availible from monday with his name on it but they chose to use an old one and let him board. Surely all airlines must be made to check updates on a daily basis to stop this happening again, thankfulloy the authorities were on the ball.

As opposed to the British killing all those innocent civilians in Hamburg, Dresden etc. War is a nasty thing, and if your leaders get you into one then you will suffer.

:faf: Poor USA, they wade into other people's countries and take the hump when the people of those countries object to foreign rule. Reminds me of 1776 when these guys objected to giving their wealth to an overseas power, that was in, er.....do people never learn?

Bin Laden's, and therefore Al Qaeda's, hatred of America and the West stems from Western forces being based in Saudi Arabia when they were defending Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the first Gulf war in 1990.

Presumably, Bin Laden would have preferred Saudi Arabia to be left pretty much defenceless against Iraq.

This guy of Pakistani descent has confessed, but I just find it amazing that this white guy in his 40s has disappeared from the media. Ive looked on a few different outlets and theres no mention of him, or any questions as to why he should have been fingered by the Mayor of New York as the main suspect just 2 days ago:confused:

Look at this from Foxnews
http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/05/04/white-house-timeline-of-its-engagement-in-the-times-square-bombing-attempt/
They have a minute-by-minute timeline of everything in relation to the event and the White House response, but no mention at all is made of the initial suspect, who was all over every media outlet in the world!???? Its as if he's just disappeared from memory.

Weird.

:agree: Especially when they had him on camera, changing his shirt and stuffing it in to a bag.

If not, it makes the Mayor's actions (in telling the world that 'It isnt an Al-Qaeda plot' and that he was the number one suspect) a bit strange, dont you think?

I have no idea how Bin Laden thinks. I just think it is worthwhile pointing out that it is often civilians who end up giving their lives because of decisions their leaders have made.

Not really. He said that the guy might not be involved.

"But [Bloomberg] warned that the man on the tape may not be the bomber.

He said: "Millions of people come through Times Square. This man happened to be in a position where a camera got a good shot of him. Maybe he had something to do with it but there's a chance he did not. We're exploring a lot of leads."

Repeated like this on most of the US networks as well. No mention of doubt anywhere.
Look at the FoxNews timeline. Constant conversations between Obama and Mayor Bloomberg referred to. Not one reference to the first suspect.

Indeed. Although there may be a default position of 'it wasn't the muslims' in order to keep things calm in the immediate aftermath of an event.

BTW how much time elapsed between leaving the car and boarding the plane?

So you think it was pro-Muslim 'political correctness gone mad' that caused the white guy to be identified as a suspect?:hmmm:
