Saw this when it was on the tv. Thought it was one of their best sketches.

I think this may have been based on a ‘true’ story related by, I think, Ewan McGregor, or some other Scottish actor, on the Parkinson show a few years back.

He was in the States and after a bit of a heavy sesh staggers back to the hotel with his pals and they tumble in the lift. Being that p!shed they don’t take in the others in the lift.

On hearing ‘Which floor please?’ in an American accent of course he blurts out '11' and without noticing one of the others pressing the button, off the lift goes.

The next morning he’s going down in the lift and just happens to be in there with the hotel manager.

‘Ground’ say McGregor.

Nothing happens.

‘Ground’ he demands. :grr:

Nothing happens.

Eventually the manger says you have to press the button.

Not wanting to appear an idiot McGregor says ‘Oh, I thought it was voice activated.’

‘Eh, no’ says the manger rather put out ‘we don’t have that here.’

When the lift reaches the ground floor McGregor sees is the manager at reception demanding someone gets in touch with the lift company saying ‘If they have voice activated lifts in S.c.a.t.land I want them in my hotel. :faf:
