Is it just me or was there really any need for this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8654420.stm) footage to be released?

Thats what I thought when I watched it. Get the feeling that it is more for shock value rather than anything else it serves no real purpose.

I don't think so S but as Darth suggests it's been solely for the shock factor.

I worked in a high school for a couple of years and witnessed on many occasions pupils bullying teachers, knowing they were pretty well bullet proof as the likely punishments of detention and or temporary exclusion were not severe enough to make them think again about their behaviour.

I'm just surprised something like this has not happened before TBH :agree:

Looks like a cool music video...

I watched it with Biffy Clyros - Questions and Answers playing on my speakers and it became a nice tour de force...

Not really a big deal really is it Arab? It's not like they showed you the teacher beating the child.

Sadly.

If I were a teacher in a school with a bunch of reprobate teenagers with big bubbly, blurry balloon heads, I'm sure I'd be likely to go a bit postal...

I've taught kids with autism, adhd, tourettes and all kinds of learning difficulties but big fat blurry heads freak me the **** out.

Set this man free.

Kids do seem to have the power in their hands nowadays and this has been discussed on another thread here. No matter what form of bullying happened, you can't take a 2-3kg dumbbell and wrap around someones head cause you've been bullied. The footage doesn't really show anything really, so no shock value there.

Well the teacher certainly taught the guy a lesson.

Peter Harvey was clearly out of control but Kids can easily get you in this state because they look for weaknesses in the venerable and with the Teacher they pushed him to far.

I could understand a teacher lashing out at a kid but taking a dumb-bell, dragging him into a side room and battering him senseless, causing a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, isn't understandable.

I know they haven't made a decision on his future but they surely can't let him teach again.

He won't get within a country-mile of a school.
