Seems to be a bit of a "spree" of knife crime the past few days:
Two Men Stabbed in Cumbernauld (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/8642807.stm)
Man "Brutally" Murdered in Musselburgh (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/8642924.stm)
Man Stabbed After Leaving Pub in Glasgow (http://www.scotsman.com/news/Man-stabbed-after-leaving-Glasgow.6251536.jp)
Man Murdered in Knife Attack in Whitburn (http://news.stv.tv/scotland/east-central/172142-whitburn-schools-close-after-stabbing/)
Perhaps I've just not noticed it previously, but since when did this become such a huge issue north of the border? I'm well aware of the documented violence/attacks which have risen in frequency in London over the past few years, but I didn't realise it was such a problem in Scotland.
Granted, there are stories in the press from time to time about knife violence, but this is 4 incidents over one weekend!
Mental...

And these are the ones that are being reported on. I know for a fact there are a large amounts of stabbings that don't get reported in the tabloids. I would love to give you an answer why not but I cant unfortunately.
Your right though it is mental :bitchy:

The government frequently quote statistics stating that knife crime or other kinds of crime are actually going down. I can't see it myself. Either people just aren't reporting crime or the crimes aren't making it onto the list for some other reason.
Whatever the truth, the general perception is that the streets are less safe than ever and there isn't a thing this or any other government can do to change that perception except double the size of the police force. That's not going to happen.

Well having witnessed that guy in Whitburn after being stabbed and seeing first hand the damage a wee piece of sharp metal can do, I feel the min sentence if far to soft.
Its horrible to see the life just drain away so fast from someone, plus the blood trail was long and wide.
Knife crime is truly horrific

Knives are everywhere unfortunately. I've had two experiences in Musselburgh.
First was last summer. Me and a few mates were walking along market street towards lidl when some boy walked out from a side street and cut straight across us. He kept walking along the middle of the road infront of us. He then cut back across us and i noticed he had a blade in his hand! He then proceded to walk into ravelston hotel with it behind his back! Scary stuff.
Second time we were chased by a guy who allegedly had a knife!

Stabbed a filet mignon down in No1, under the Balmoral Hotel. No regrets - it was asking for it.
And I'd do it again.

Maybe he was the chef, on his way to work?
What ever happened to the good old fashioned square go that used to be the norm?

Sorry mate, I was only joking. I know that most chefs don't carry knives around with them.
