View Full Version : Should Yogi similarly be fined?

"the surface suited us" Yogi Hughes comment after Celtic game.

With Riordans fine in mind, surely Yogi is equally guilty of commenting on the state of a pitch affecting Hibs game. His comment (above) implies that boggy pitches like ER do not suit Hibs "passing" game. In which case Riordan should be cleared of any breach of conduct and apologised to publicly by Hibernian FC or Hughes similarly fined and censored.

Hughes has said that the Easter Road pitch is 'fine'. Brown-noser.

Can't argue with that.

Why should Yogi be fined, He never criticised the pitch did he?

Yogi could be found to be guilty through what is termed "ommission" and even implication. A lawyer would have a field day with Hibs take on Riordans comments. Similarly, Hughes comments can be used as evidence by the defence in favour of Riordan.

That might be right, but why should Yogi be fined?

By applying the same standards and criteria that rendered Riordan guilty. Yogis comments clearly indicate that a good playing surface is conducive to Hibs passing game, thus a poor surface is NOT. Which is what Riordan said.

The ' poor pitch' distraction is actually becoming a red herring. It's only the tip of the iceberg in the 'get rid of Riordan' debate.

But he should not be fined for that either, and hopefully the PFA get him off the fine.

I'm sure Riordan's contract states he's not allowed to say anything detremental whatsoever about the club, presumably this will include the state of the pitch as well as the running of the club in general.

Other teams seem to quite like playing on the ER pitch...

It might, but what he said in that interview, was imho nothing that warranted a fine of any amount.

If it wasnt for Riordans goals hibs would most certainly be bottom 6.

If Hughes wants to get rid in the summer then it could be like russian roullette for him.

Read a few posts recently hinting that Hughes or Petrie are wanting shot of Riordan, yet I can't ever recall anything in the press or that about it. Also, if Yogi was wanting rid, why is he playing him every week? :dunno:

Not aimed at you, Andy, but unless folk have something to back up their claims that Yogi is wanting rid of Riordan, I don't think they should be implying it. I cannot think of any reason why suggesting such a thing would be beneficial.
