Don't know if it's me or not but that just looks like a photo of a rocky crag and some clouds, can't see any volcano or ash cloud.

The cone is to the right hand side. I watched it a minute ago and the ash plume was coming right at the camera - huge pieces of debris flying through the air. Depends on what direction the wind is blowing at the time.

A bit clearer now. :greengrin

******** - seems to be causing sufficient havoc - that'll be almost a week of cancelled flights with no end in sight.
Still, I'd sooner be on the ground and alive, than have my plane be *****ed by volcanic ash.
Bye bye Finland/Estonia and hello Distillery tour of the Highlands!!

No worries - I'm a bit of an 'Icelandophile', so this is pretty exciting stuff.
If you catch it when the plume is heading straight at the camera, it's like the end of the world!

Here is another view of the Volcano (http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-thorolfsfelli/)
The large rectangle shows the plume. The smaller square is the cone.

Some of those photos are unreal, especially the ones with lightning forks in the ash cloud - looks something like what I would expect the early stages of the Apocolypse to look like.
Stunning :agree:

How about everyone takes a bucket of water and pours it in? Or is it more complicated than that?:dunno:

- Is the lightning a result of the eruption, or is it coincidental?
- Picture 10: That's a blast from the past! Anybody remember Iceland jumpers?

Incredible stuff. I almost forgive it for stranding me in Munich for five days:boo hoo::devil:
Assume the lightning is the result of electrical activity within the ash cloud, but this being Hibs.net, there will be a vulcanologist along in a minute with a lucid and comprehensive explanation:greengrin
Anyone else see the irony in picture no.26, a guy taking a photo from an AIRPLANE.
