Just had a wee thought.

If the flight problems continue due to the volcano in Iceland, could there be a possibility that the Champions League matches this week could be postponed? Or will they just expect them to travel by coach?

Cheers, you're doing well, seeing as you're stuck in Belgium.

It would be funny if they had to slum it and go by coach though.

I`m severely tempted to join them. One week of crying babies, moaning sisters and snobbish French in-laws is more than enough, never-mind two!

Every meal is an ordeal with Cedric desperate to flex France`s `superior cuisine`muscles and the stench of urine from the baby is unforgettable (other than that she`s fine).

I'm sure Denis Bergkamp went to the World Cup in the USA in 1994 by boat as he had a fear of flying.

Spanish press saying Barcelona may travel by coach but I doubt that would happen . Think it might be good for players and especially officials ( of all clubs not just Barca ) to see how many fans travel to games . Fans in recent years have got used to luxury compared with not that long ago - talk of Dingwall being a big trek last month when we took hundreds of fan by bus, train or car (including hitchhiking ) to friendlies there in 80s . And if we make Europa League , people will complain about a 2-hour delay at airport when fans spent days on buses to get to Videoton match in 80s or on boat to Norrkopping in 70s .

Think your right. Bergkamp missed quite a few Arsenal European games cause he wouldn't fly.

Re Videton: We got a supporters bus from Edinburgh to Gatwick, flight to Vienna and bus from Vienna to Budapest, it was a hoot. :greengrin

Think some folk went by coach all the way to Hungary, kinda puts going up to Dingwall midweek into perspective.:agree:

I don't think he ever played in the Champions League/European cup for Arsenal because of it.

I'm sure he played a few in nearby european countries, like Holland or Belgium, but didn't go further afield like Greece etc.

Without doubt fans have got used to car or quick flight or nothing or match on telly at home or in pub . Funny kick off times don`t help much though .

Cannot think of another time Graeme Mitchell scored a goal, certainly his most famous goal. :greengrin

There is no doubt people have got used to football being on the TV. I watched todays game online, I make no bones about that, but I'd be more than happy if the game wasn't online or on TV, there is far too much football on TV.

Jezzo, if our game against Dundee Utd on the last day is on TV, that means ALL our games after the split are live on TV, that's no right IMO.

Games to go ahead as planned

http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=1477683.html

The two UEFA Champions League semi-final first legs will go ahead as scheduled this week despite the current restrictions on European air travel due to the volcanic cloud. The refereeing team that has been announced for the match on Tuesday is so far maintained and a backup appointment has been prepared in case it should prove necessary to make a replacement.

Both visiting teams have taken all the necessary steps to rearrange their travel plans to ensure they reach their match venues on time. FC Barcelona are away to FC Internazionale Milano at 20.45CET on Tuesday and Olympique Lyonnais are at FC Bayern München 24 hours later.

A decision will be taken in the coming days about Thursday's two UEFA Europa League matches: Club Atlético de Madrid v Liverpool FC and Hamburger SV v Fulham FC

No way Lyon game will be posponed. It only about 500 miles between the two cities so travel by coach no problem.
