Just been reading this:

It's about Mark Hughes being on £2M a year or about £38,000 p/w at City and how that Celtic could never afford this.

Surly a good manager is worth as much as any good player?

I don't think managers should be earning more. Players should be earning less.

I think a lot of it boils down to the entertainment value. Clubs income stems from the entertainment factor that individual players provide, through gate receipts, TV money and merchandising.

You watch man u for Rooney & co, not fergie
Barca for Messi, not Guardiola
Madrid for Ronaldo etc etc.

The manager who does provide consistent entertainment, however, is Mourinho, who is the highest earning manager in the business.

See the correlation?

Off the park aye!

Barca & Arsenal are better teams to watch than Inter are and Chelsea ever were under Maurinho, imo

Agreed.

I've always wondered why clubs are reluctant to spend an average first team players wage to entice a top class manager.

A top class manager will only take a job where there is a player budget in line with his 'status', otherwise his reputation could be damaged by his team's results.

:agree: Players' wages generally range from the ridiculous to the obscene.

Always figured the manager was the most important figure at any club so should get paid most. Doesn't work out like that though.
