How bad does it get when the guy at the top of the tree is happy to cover up the disgusting acts of a paedophile. Religion, in general, is usually a no go area for me but the Catholic Church's handling of their problem with paedophiles is obscene and just cracks me up!
For anyone concerned, I'm a non practising (completely) Catholic.

It's not just the catholic clergy who are to blame. That whole organisation is propped up by people who are happy to be told what to do. Unless the rank and file protest and question the leaders will think they are untouchable.

For reasons as controversial as this, and more, I too have been unable to sustain my faith. There was a time when I quietly defended Catholicism because I believed the good far outweighed the bad. I regularly went to Mass and tried to live my life in the way I believed was acceptable to my Church and my God.
It took a long long time for me to become 'objective' about the Catholic church and whilst I still believe there is a lot more good than bad within its walls, I'm no longer unable to subscribe to its teachings.
I've stopped short of using the word ashamed to describe my feelings, but I guess that's what it all boils down to. And that makes me incredibly sad :agree:
