That can't be right, eticketing shows the East Stand as being fully available. According to that though, the South Stand is 100% sold out. :hmmm:

Looking at that picture there seems to be a lot more room at the back of the stand than I first though! Surely there is enough room to put some parking in there.

Not that much room for parking. You might get 1 line of cars down there but who would want to park there unless you leave early to miss the crowd. Or maybe you stay the full 90mins and miss the crowd due to everyone leaving early.

I take it there will be security around on saturday to stop anyone just wandering into whats left of the stand through the construction site?

I was actually thinking more for the disabled supporters. I know they have disabled parking beside the cemetry but if you are at the bottom of the road I would imagine it could be a bit much for some disabled supporters.

I think the police wander around the back of the east anyway as kids usually try and jump the fence and get into the game.

I would doubt there would be. Looks like it is taking about one day per floodlight and with only two left, they should be down and most, if not all, of the East Stand should be bulldozed by the time we turn up on Saturday

I some respects its sad to see as it's the last part of the stadium which has been there for many years but going forward it is significant progress for the club! :agree:

Let's hope that we get some top flight games once the new East stand is complete to justify the faith behind the decision to build it! :cool2:

Is it just me or why dont they just put a bulldozer into it, Get it down ASAP and get the new stand built. Watching the video withteh guy with teh blow torch taking seats out. Who honestly will pay £10 for seat? It it is not your seat why do you want it?

Get it built. I want it ready for the first game next season.

I always thought it was way overdesigned in terms of the number of columns, steel profile sizes, etc. for a simple roof.

Site manager will get his backside well and truly kicked for that one

Obviously no idea they were being filmed :faf:

Can't say I did. Maybe some kindly passing yam will bring it to the attention of whoever it may concern, now you've raised it, and get everything stopped.

Still remember the first game with the new roof, IICR it was V Aberdeen c. 1985?

Horrible to see the stand like that. I've made friends in that section of the stand and have memories that will stay with me forever from 42. Bring a tear to a glass eye that.

They have to separate the demolished material into categories as the steel will be recycled, the concrete ground up and used as hardcore, and the residue go to landfill. The tax on landfill is very high so it is in the contractors' interest to minimize the amount.

I assume they are separating the plastic seats from the steel and concrete as part of this operation.

In any event they can hardly just bulldoze the whole stand as this would inevitably dump stuff onto the pitch. It is bad enough now without broken glass and steel embedded into it.

This thread is pretty heavy duty - seeing it come down like that is weird. Stood on there as a laddie for the likes of Juventus, Leeds Utd, Liverpool, Sporting. Got my head kicked in by sticky buns for stopping them winning the league and also had far, far better and funnier and more glorious days. Best atmosphere on there in recent years was the "we are unbeatable/you're not unbeatable" Derby.

Looking forward to the new one but planning on heading down for a bit concrete for the back-yard. It'll save a teeny tad on their land-fill bills at least.

Interesting to see how many people will be hanging out of windows or stood on the various balconies getting a free view from the flats:thumbsup:

Check out the old north about 8 seconds in to main video (http://video.stv.tv/?bcpid=37654293001&bctid=69755961001). Do you think the usual STV "expert" researcher thought this was actually the old East they were showing?

TV gantry still there.

Are there any SPL rules about having floodlights at the stadium ?

Surely if there was bad fog or the skies became gray due to a storm they would need to turn some lights on?

gantry is away now, just got the right side of the wall left to knock down now.

There's lights on top of the west stand so we do have some lights

Hibs have half the normal floodlighting as normal.

Hearts have three quarters of their normal lights assuming that none of the others have failed!
