I see on SSN and on other sources (http://www.rs.goal.com/en/news/1863/world-cup-2010/2010/03/02/1814001/world-cup-2010-guus-hiddink-confirms-ivory-coast-interest) that Gus Hiddink is in talks to lead the Ivory Coast to the World Cup Finals this summer, follow the sacking of Vahid Halilhodzic following the poor ANC performance.

I recall hearing on here that the previous boss had been fond of Bamba, and was quite encouraging about him staying at ER, as he was pretty much guaranteed 1st team football, crucial before a WC.

Will appointment of Hiddink have an influence over Sol's involvement in South Africa, and potentially, any fee that we may receive? Maybe Gus will realise that Bamba is simply immense

Opinions?

Hopefully the new manager will make him think he has to reimpress, can only be good for us I'd have thought...

He means the previous boss, Halihodzic, who had been Bamba's boss at PSG.

Sol will need to get the finger oot because I don't think Hiddink will be too impressed by the tapes of their ACN games.

I thought SSN annouced a few weeks ago that Hiddink had agreed to become Turkey (?) boss when his contract expired with Russia?

mibbie not, but my point was I thought SSN annouced using the over hyped yellow ticker bar, that he was going to take over as Turkey manager.

On current form the only place he'll be going this summer is Portobello

The point is Turkey don't need him until August / September, so his contract with them won't start until (say) 1 August. The only thing stopping him from managing a team in the World Cup is if Russia refuse to release him from the last month of his contract.

Moot point really. As another poster stated, unless Sol gets his finger out and starts reproducing the form he was showing before he went to the ACN he'll be catching waves at Porty this summer.

He says hes not interested in managing at the World Cup since he failed to take Russia there. Football is driven by cash, but Hiddink seems one of the decent few.

Anyway, all I was noting was the fact I thought I had heard he had agreed to take over Turkey when he left Russia. Hence I wondered where this chat about Ivory Coast had come from. Since that seems to be true, I reckon he won't be managing at the World Cup, although that may be through choice.

Bamba will need to get his finger out, if he wants to impress Hiddink.
