If you were given the choice of weinning the Scottish Cup and building up massive debts to do this or being financially solvent, having a modern football stadium, training academy and hopefully winning that cup? what would you choose?

Even if the latter option mentioned never winning the Scottish Cup again, I would still choose that over winning it and having massive debts.

I would rather have a club that is financially secure for the long term but might win nothing than a club that wins a few things over a few year period but as a result is in danger of going into administration and possibly going bust.

Danger Will Robinson. We may be about to win it AND remain solvent, with a modern stadium and training academy.

I wonder what "Are you Portsmouth in disguise?" would have to say then?

As we're in the mood for hypothetical questions - what exactly is this Scottish Cup? Is it a brand of tea perhaps?

Portsmouth are in a way stronger position than Hearts.

They just haven't got the smoke and mirrors.

Here it is with 'Hibernian' on it, the first 'non West Coast' team to win it.

NB Glasgow Rangers are NOT on it as winners.

Win it at whatever cost.

Hearts may go completely bust, lose their ground, and whatever, but i think most of us can see there'll always be some kind of HoMoFC entity, i.e. the support. They might have to start at the bottom of the SFL, and work their way up (but will more likely have some kind of HoMoFC consortium buy out a 1st division club and join the SFL there), but within a few years (hopefully more) they'll be back in the SPL.

Same would happen with Hibs; so I want that cup.

Would I rather have it than the league? That's more difficult.

We've tried this. Not only did we not win the cup, we had to listen to Craig and Charlie singing "You'll Never Walk Alone".

Never again. :bitchy:
