It looks not bad, reasonably plain and simple. Appart from the badge not far from the original adidas strip.

The badge spoils it. What happened to the round badge ? and Id ditch the wee flag.....

I've seen far worse. A certain maroon effort for instance.

Whilst it was an umbro effort as I recall, a 1978 replica of sorts would have been vintage in every sense of the word - something like Gemmill wore here:

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/03/25/article-0-0412C543000005DC-588_468x330.jpg

Complete with collar that can be put up and stripes as per the Addidas design.

I'll still buy it tho. It's not too bad...

Remember this one is only temporary, and we will get a new unique (non template based) design from some point next year.

I quite like the strip positioning, not sure about the embossing, the previous mock up that was doing the rounds showing a lion rampant embossed into the shirt looked better to me...

It's practically a carbon copy of a France strip.

Just a pity we won't play like them.

Fairly sure it said on SFA Website that a new design would be ready for August 2011.

One of the earlier threads on here about the kit contained a link to a news story that said this kit would be based off a template and a new, unique one would launch in 2011.

Decent strip. Not exceptional but, more importantly, not spoiled by stupid details like fake collars, big saltires, pinstripes or tartan.

I think it's actually spoiled by the big stupid watermark of the badge on the front. Almost a good strip, but unfortunately a mid-90's fad has ruined it.

It's a boring top... If you are a fan of Chelsea, Liverpool, AC Milan, Marseille, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Benfica, or alternatively if you are French, Spanish or German at least you know what youyr new kit will be like.

I wouldn't be up for Hibs signing with Adidas as some on here suggest, all the strips they make are ridiculously similar and i'd much rather we had a one-off top that no other team has.

Over-designed.

No need for the three stripes on the inside forearm. The stripes should run down the outside from collar to cuff.

No need for the number on the middle of the chest. Numbers go on the back.

No need for the Saltire on the badge. A decent-sized Lion Rampant does the job.

No need for the 'watermark'. Enough said :greengrin

(And no need for the thin stripe down the front of the shorts and no need for the 'Alba' or the vertical stripe on the socks. And why aren't 'socks' called 'stockings' anymore? :grr:)

Honking IMO.

If Diadora, LCS or some other smaller company had designed that for us people would be moaning like **** about it.

But because it's Adidas people who think football strips are fashion items as opposed to a garment to play football in start getting all excited.

A typical Adidas effort. An over designed template with little individualism. Don't hold your breath that the 2011 will be any better, it will more than likely be a new template. Even the Spains and Germanys of the world don't get original designs so have my doubts that Scotland will.

Would have been far better going with Umbro who have made a cracking job of the England kits and have a cool, retro style going on at the moment(with the notable exception of the Hertz strip which is awful).

Why do scotland have red socks, wheres red in the saltire.

Over-designed.

No need for the three stripes on the inside forearm. The stripes should run down the outside from collar to cuff.

They do, there's just a blank bit for competition logo, e.g., Euro 2012 qualy

No need for the number on the middle of the chest. Numbers go on the back.

Competition requirement nowadays?

No need for the Saltire on the badge. A decent-sized Lion Rampant does the job.

Red in the Lion Rampant, which is officially Scotland's flag, IIRC. The Saltire is St.Andrew's flag.

Cue being shot down in the flames of ignorance.

We don't have dark blue shirts because of the Saltire, we have them because that was the Queens Park colours back at the time of the first Scottish international when all the players were from said club (bloody Glasgow bias at SFA :grr:)

01-03-2010, 08:59 PM
In fact red socks date back to that Queens Park strip too

Here's a whole page of reasons why umbro lost the scotland account

there current retro kits aren't much better, the england one in particular is a gimmick

Gotcha :aok:

Competition requirement nowadays?

Really?

I despair :greengrin. If it's not a trial but perceived as a necessity for good decison-making then it should be rolled out, across the board. That's clearly not the case though.

Think it reflects a greater dissatisfaction with officials getting anything wrong, ever, even though they're human like the rest of us and keeping up with an increasingly sophisticated and athletic game

:agree:

I'm thinking a HUGE Lion Rampant, '78-style :greengrin

OK, maybe a bit smaller, '82 level

True but I suspect it won't be as visible in 'real life'

Probably right. Still over-designed though :agree:

Agreed.

I don't know what it is about Scotland strips these days but there's always something that ends up spoiling a pretty decent looking top. That watermark thing is quite hideous imo :bitchy:

Also, why don't they bring back the old round SFA badge?

Liked it, looks like the old away Argentina strip circa 98 world cup, the thing that ruins it for me is that fud with a square heed and a tattie for a face Caldwell :greengrin
