Drafted in for Robbie Keane:

Well deserved IMO, he's in better form now than when he made the squad the last time. Just hope he doesn't get injured, must be one of the few who has kept up his performance levels over the last 2 weeks.

I just hope we can keep him for next season and find a worthy strike partner for him.

He is the only forward at present doing the business week in week out so is in the squad on merit and fully deserves his place. Miller is not in the squad as his form has shaded recently and looks a different player to the one who just got on with playing well a few weeks or so ago.

It makes a change for a Hibs player to be fit and in good form to be selected to play against Brazil rather than injured, then make a recovery in the nick of time :agree:

If Yogi had him the middle and played Zemmama wide right like he should have.... And played Benji instead of Lillian.....:grr: I still thought Miller was very good yesterday.

i dont think deeko is a good choice to play up alonside stokes. they work well together but they both dont win anything in the air and you need a big guy to win heders and thats why i think he keeps playing nish or benji up with him

"Robbie Keane has pulled out of the Republic of Ireland squad for the friendly with Brazil because of a knee injury and has been replaced by Stokes" - according to today's "Scotsman"

Congratulations Stokesey!

Hopefully he'll play some part considering it's just a friendly.

Cant see his name there? Has he been dropped?

Was wondering this myself after seeing a similar article on the BBC.

If Keane has said he can't play and Stokes has been called up it should remain that way - especially for a Friendly.

How gutted would you be when you've told everyone you'd have a chance to play against Brazil, only to get a call saying 'sorry but you're not anymore'.

Dunno.

He was brought in to the squad yesterday after Keane was supposedly injured.

Now that the great messiah has made a miraculously recovery then maybe Stokes was told that he'll not be required after all.

If this is the case then he should now tell the ROI to shove it.

Just one of those things. Would be a shame for the lad, but if your not fist pick then i imagine it could happen

Looks like Stokes is still in the mix - according to an article in the EEN. It would have been grossly unfair if he'd been told that he was no longer required.

You can bet that if the ROI match was away to Ukraine or such like, Robbie ****ing Keane would not have made this miracle recovery........,

That'd be like Kurtis Byrne or Callum Booth telling Yogi to shove 'cause they weren't getting in the first team.

Totally different circumstances. Stokes was called in at short notice which is fair enough but if he was then told that he's not required then that really is very poor.

However it looks as though this is not the case so there's no real problem.

Stokesy definitely deserves it. Hopefully he gets his chance tonight, as this will be an amazing experience.

So is he in or not?

I read today in the Metro that RK was back in but no mention of Stokes despite him specifically being mentioned yesterday when RK pulled out.
