View Full Version : A Poetic tribute to the East - and a name?

Sorry if already posted
First it was massive, with thousands of Stairs
Old men with caps on, young guys in their flares
It had seen Barca and Real Madrid
Then they chopped it in half and stuck on a lid,
From that day onward the east stand was born
Sometimes amazing, somtimes forlorn
It sung Frankie Sauzee and Keith, Keith, Keith, Keith
Glory to the Hibees and Sunshine on Leith
Its seen two league cups come back full of bubbly
It laughed when Steve Fulton got booked for being ugly
It told Wallace Mercer to go kiss our ar*e
It wept when Joe Baker knelt down on the grass
My mates and your mates to name but a few
were doing the bounce as we trounced them 6 - 2
But now it is changing, a good thing I think
As long as its green, not bus shelter pink
If I could name it, I'd put in a bid
There is only one choice..........

Thats brilliant!
I would take out the Albert Kidd bit though as that doesn't strictly have anything to do with the ET.....but still :top marks

My memory mighty be playing tricks on me, but I didn't think the roof was on that day.
It certainly wasn't seated.
We were playing Dundee United and I thought it was open air. :dunno:
(The Joe Baker reference is nice, but not chronologically accurate, for sure!)

Definitely no seats, but the cover was built that season (85/86)

The only air in there that day would have been the stuff you were walking on at full time....
