Scored in Germany too

Surname began with S - turned out to be "not Hibs Class" and was punted to the Jambos though

shevlane??

Think Chris Shevlane was at the PBS before ER, rather than the other way round.

Surname began with S, perhaps best ever player ... I'll say ... Murdo McLeod.

So who was he with when he scored the hat trick? Dundee, Drumcondra??

Can there actually be two players that achieved this Brian? The May '49 one I don't have scorers for and my question relates to May '60 :greengrin

In the May 49 game Gordon Smith scored 2 Reilly, Souness & Ormond scored one each. Don't have details of the other scorer.

For the May 1960 game the the Handbook edition of the programme issued against Hearts lists the scorers as Jock Buchanan with 2 and Johnny McLeod the other scorer. The cover of the newspaper/programme issued for the game is here (http://hibsprogrammes.co.uk/html/600512bm.html)

The Scotsman newpaper match report of the May '60 game tells a different story so my question may be invalid.

Now I like the Hibs Handbook and I like the Scotsman but which is right?

There's only one way to find out

The first match was on 12th May 1950 - I have a scan of the German newspaper with the match report which lists the scorers as:

Souness (8') Ormond (40') Souness (51') Smith (68') Souness (75') and Johnstone (78')

5456

These scorers are also listed on one of the databases - probably from another source.

The data I have on the 1960 game is as per Dave's post - I don't have the Scotsman report :grr:

Kenny ALLISON

Kenny Allison scored in a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich at ER in September 1958 - the other scorers are listed as Turnbull and an OG

here's another one. The Hibs programme for the game against Bayern in November 60 has a run down on the previous games and lists the scorers in the 1950 tour game as Reilly, Ormond, Souness, Smith 2 and Johnstone. here (http://hibsprogrammes.co.uk/601123.html)

Had another look at the Scotsman report Dave and it says Buchanan scored all three with one of those a tap in after McLeod had hit the post.
