Nah, I think it was when Yogi threatened to drop him and never play him again unless he signed a new deal.

Ok, that was a stupid thing to say as no manager in his right mind would do that to one of their top players, would they? :greengrin

Or let's just leave it as it is. I think a great deal of Ian Murray, but all of a sudden giving him the armband at the cruel expense of a brilliant chap who's done zip all wrong as captain would be one hell of an injustice. Chris doing just fine in that role, and under no circumstances does he deserve to lose it. If Yogi had thought Murray would have been better suited to captaining the club, he would have named him as such at the end of July. He didn't. That's the end of the matter as far as I'm concerned.

Very good. A somewhat Utopian vision however :agree:

Great fillip for the club, I think IM's performances are often inspirational and the team benefits hugely from having players with his obvious commitment.

Excellent news, brilliant re-signing and I'm delighted he's with us for a little bit longer.

Can't think of (m)any better left backs than him in Scotland; chuck in his 100% commitment and his love for Hibernian and you have yourself a player that would cost a lot of money to replace like for like.

Ok, given the choice of one of these which would you prefer ?

Hibs win against the Huns yesterday, and no new deal for IM ?

or

Lose against der Hun and Ian Murray signing a new 2 year deal ?

Also, interested that it is just a 2 year deal. Think IM is 28, so deal will take him into his 30s. Would have expected a 3 or 4 year deal and him seeing out his days at ER.

Also, what are the rules on Testimonials ? I always thought IM was the kind of player would - having spent all his days at ER (other than a break to the Darkside) - deserved one. He's Hibby through and through, and would get a great turnout from the Hibs fans.

If i'm right when he's in his last year of his next contract, it'll be his 9th year as a regular at Hibs:

2000/2001
2001/2002
2002/2003
2003/2004
2004/2005
2008/2009 (Half the season)
2009/2010
2010/2011
2011/2012

Perhaps he'd extend again for a testimonial :hmmm:
