February: Our Biggest Month So Far

If we're still up there after that (extremely difficult) trio of away matches then we can begin to dream IMO and a top 4 finish would be all but guaranteed.

As Cletic's recent results against Falkirk and Killie have shown, there just aren't any easy games around at the moment. We just have to stick in and try to take something from every game. The fact is that every week some team or other will be dropping points.

Undoubtedly. I think Rangers are unbeaten at home in the league and are averaging a goal difference there of more than three to one. Motherwell and Saints have lost seven home games this season between them, out of twenty-one so are no pushovers. Brown especially seems to be making a difference.

On the other hand, we've only lost two of our ten away games. Probably drawn too many - if we could have converted two of our four away draws into victories (fascinating that the draws were consecutive), we would be above Celtc

Got to think we'll beat Aberdeen (we only need to score one :greengrin) and that we'll be too strong for Saints, either home or away. If we're serious about our ambitions we must be aiming for fifteen points but needing eleven or twelve.

I am sure that Celtic wont fancy away trips to Aberdeen and Rangers, with Hertz and Utd at home. United have Falkirk and Hamilton at home (both fighting for their lives) and away to St. Mirren and Celtic. Well have Rangers, Hibs and an improving Killie at home with Hamilton away. Hertz have Falkirk and Hamilton at home (see above) and Celtic and Aberdeen away. Rangers have Well and St.Johnstone away and Hibs and Celtic at home.

I cannot see any team winning all their games, so dropping some points will not be a disaster. The picture will certainly be a lot clearer at the end of these fixtures.

Looking at those fixtures i would still take us being 2 points behind them by the end of the month. Tough games and the longer we stay on their coattails the better.

Also this is the month for Rangers to wrap the title up. If they are still 10 ahead before the old firm game then they have a chance of finishing celtic off that day at ibrox.

You're right, there are no easy games for any team in the SPL at the moment. I just wonder if that is actually HELPING us this season in that we are masters at giving the better teams a real good game and then getting beat by the lower league teams. Yogi and the boys seem to understand that and - in the main - are playing every game with the same drive and enegy, matching the so called poorer teams for effort.

If we get through Feb with a decent record, this WILL be the most exciting finish for Hibbies in years.
