Anyone else think we should have one on March 20th at Tynie?
Simply cause it's Hearts im sure more people will do there part to participate and at least it's a bit more of a relevant time of year to do it as the weather will be slightly warmer..?

If you want to do a themed day at Easter RD you have to have it well publicised.

First you need a good story/theme that fans will buy into -- wind up huns etc...

You could do an Ivory Coast WC day for big Sol with everyone to wear Green/White/gold against say Huns/hearts or as you have suggested a green day.or an irish day on St paddy'd for stokes, millar et all

You have to get the clubs agreement involved on there website
You have to get other sites bounce involved
you have to let all the supporters club know

You then get media coverage EN , DR, Sun--let everyone know--plan in advance and it will be a magic day.

Never seen the point of contrived 'theme days', do we really need to be told what to wear etc?

At last someone says what I was thinking......

What about this novel concept? Get more fans in and get the atmosphere bouncing..... We are second if we win our game in hand, time the team and management were properly backed........

I want this to happen aswell but problem is it doesn't look like it, even when we were joint top earlier in the season we were still only attracting crowds of about 11-12,000, yet Hearts get 14-15,000 when there playing utter pish. Our away support is good but we've always toiled to get big home support.

Therein lies the problem, if we can't get full houses when we are so high up the league, then we never will...IMO

Credit is due to those who tried to get a 'Green Day' off the ground against St Mirren, but IMHO it was doomed to failure for the following reasons:

Unless it's a real 'occasion' like a cup final, there are only so many fans who will happily traipse about in stuff like green wigs/jester hats etc and carry flags around with them all day. For a run of the mill game against St Mirren, most folk are either heading straight home afterwards or if they're heading out afterwards they don't want to wear gear like that for the rest of the evening. Aside from big occasions the only other time you're likely to get more fans wearing green is in the warmer months when folk go to games wearing their Hibs shirts.

If you want everyone waving flags (like the Villa fans in the League Cup semi-final recently), then the club would have to supply them and have them laid out on every seat. They are probably unlikely to do that, even though it would create a decent spectacle. Perhaps they could lay out green and white cards to create a giant Hibs flag when everyone holds them up? Again that would look good but only if the stands were full enough to make it work.

Another problem, as somebody else has mentioned, is that it's not really a change of clothes that will help the atmosphere, it's getting people back into the way of singing more often. Back in the days of terracing it was far easier to get a song going and the range of songs was far greater than it is now. Some on here are talking about the fact there are 'only' 12,000 at the games. That just doesn't wash as an excuse. You could get a great atmosphere going with that size of crowd. I honestly think that a lot of the kids who now inhabit the 'singing section' of the East Stand simply don't know many songs. Most of the older 'singers' are presumably dispersed around the ground, with many probably in the family sections. What I think will improve things is when a single-tier East Stand is built. Folk talk about the current East stand being the best place for atmosphere but in reality it's been rubbish for a few years now. A steep new stand will vastly improve the acoustics in the ground and lead to a better atmosphere. By that time we should make sure everyone learns a few more songs to sing. Anyone fancy compiling a Hibernian song book?

re: the songbook thing.

IF there was a place on here to post actual songs, not just random made up ones, that everyone could see but NOT post in that would be good. Have a select few that can post songs actually sung, and maybe people will create a bigger vocab of songs.

Good idea.

And then if DTS gets resurrected the "panel" can give us a 'song of the week' :greengrin
