Currently on Radio 5 Live, Richard Bacon show and said he nearly signed for us when Alex Mcleish was manager!

Just said that he almost signed for Hibs when McLeish was manager. Didn't know this?

That would have been a disaster. What would we have called the Matty Jack role??

I have just listened to that arrogant tosser of the highest order on 5 Live too. I am so glad he didn't sign for Hibs.

Vinnie Jones was born in the Oxhey district of Watford. He became known to the school kids in Watford as the definition of an oxymoron. Says it all.

Totally disagree. I've always liked him. All about opinions I suppose.

It would've been amusing to see him get fired up in a derby:greengrin

I side with the "He's a bell-end" faction.

Good to see lots of 5 Live listeners on here - clearly we have an educated fan base. :agree:

Can he play at right back?

I can understand the opposition but I'm sure if he'd come to Hibs he would have ended up a bit of a cult hero. People still talk about Joe T halfing WGS in a friendly so imagine the storys Vinny Jones would have given us.

Vinnie + Yogi in the same team in a derby :dizzy:

Bellend, but I agree with jakedance, he probably would have become a cult hero.

Met him once when he was with Leeds, blethered to me for ages about football in general, came across as a decent enough guy, mad as a hatter though, and very much in the same mould as Yogi I believe.

Played against him a couple of times here in LA, and he always came across as a decent guy. Still very competitive on the field, with the attitude to match when things weren't going well, but his coaching of his teammates during the game was a great lesson to hear.

I'm 100% sure had we signed him, he woudn't be seen as a 'bellend', we'd most probably have praised everybody involved in bringing him to the club.

Never seen him play but I quite like him. I watched the Piers Morgan interview and thought he came across well.

I'm sure I read ages ago that he did huge amounts of voluntary work with disabled kids but he kept this very low key...sounds decent compared to his 'hard man' image.

Did like Gazzas story (the match behind 'that' photo of Jones holding Gazza's nuts) when he said that Jones outpsyched him so much that Gazza even apologies to Jones when Gazza had to take a corner which meant leaving his man-marker!

Absolutely not Hibs class. Would have fitted in fine down Gorgie way, though.

I am sure that it was Hearts that were in for him. He must have got a bit mixed up.

Supposedly he was on giving it the "why are we talking about Scottish transfers?" "Scottish football is just Celtic and Rangers" crap as well (read on a Sheep website).

I'm firmly in the bell-end camp now:agree:

He was just taking the pash. I heard it, he was having a laugh. Much like I do with my English/Jambo mates.

Top bloke IMO.

I always had a certain fondness for Vinnie Jones after THAT photo of him shaking Gazza by the bollox - one of the funniest football snaps ever - and that has not been disipated by his appearances in the likes of lockstock/extras in which he's put in some unexpectedly good performances.

Personally, I think he would have done just fine if he'd joined Hibs and would have been fondly remembered by all.

I don't watch big brother and didn't catch the 5-live interview so can't comment on his personality - but he'll always be a bit of a legend for me.
