Not getting ahead of myself here but, anyone remind me what 3rd place gets? Automatic qualifying for Europa? Or still have to play a qualifier?

And 4th?

Looking at the ranking lists, it does put scottish football in a slightly different light to the doom and gloom of the press.

We are ranked 13th out of 53 countries and of the countries ranked higher than us we could only realistically ever expect to be higher than 3 or 4 of them. Maybe, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey and Greece. Even if we did move up those 4 places the only difference it would make would be the league winners going straight into the group stages of the CL and the 3rd place team having to play one less EL qualifier.

Associations ranked 7-9 in the UEFA coefficients will send the Cup winner and three other teams to the UEFA Europa League qualification, all other nations send a Cup winner and two other teams, except Liechtenstein, Andorra and San Marino, who will only send a Cup winner.

Usually, the other teams will be the next highest ranked clubs in each domestic league after those qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, however France and England will continue to use one spot for their League Cup winner.

Additionally, three places in the first of four qualifying rounds are still reserved for Fair Play winners.

Add the two CL places and it's possible that we could have 6 teams in Europe again next season.
